4 TSLs Thin Spray-on Liners Effective Surface Protection In hard rock mining, oxidation can affect weak strata, causing rock slabbing and side wall degradation. Effective surface support and the protection of rock and strata against weathering are critical to the safety, efficiency and longevity of any mining operation. MEYCO Thin Spray-On Liners (TSLs) contain fast-setting polymers offering progressively increasing tensile strength development. They provide an excellent bond to almost any substrate, including concrete and rock. In hard rock mining, MEYCO TSLs can be used for: Stabilization of rock through substrate sealing Preliminary slope protection Preliminary and temporary in-cycle support Protection against rock weathering Waterproofing Tensile and Bond Strength MEYCO TSLs are applied in a single 3-5 mm layer. They set to a tack-free surface within 5-10 minutes and gain tensile and bond strength over the subsequent hours, days and weeks. This provides supplementary surface support to strategic areas of the mine where people and critical infrastructure are often present, bringing important safety benefits. The characteristics of the system are that TSLs are not rigid but elastic. The elastic membrane can also assist in preventing the passage of radon and methane gas. 4

5 Sprayed Concrete Workers Safety The demand for high-quality, durable sprayed concrete that poses negligible health risks and fewer negative impacts to the environment is ever increasing. Worldwide, there has been an important shift from dry to wet mix applications in the underground coal mining industry. This change, together with the latest technology in equipment and alkali-free accelerators providing low dust and rebound levels, has significantly improved the working environment and lowered health risks. At the same time these systems ensure rapid and safe progress through their high early strength and continuous strength development. This is a very important factor as high early strength can be overlooked in favour of long-term strength and durability. 6 Pre-injection Higher Advance Rates and Improved Safety with Pre-injection Controlled Setting Ecologically Friendly Easy application Water ingress during shaft sinking and development of main roadways usually escalates project and production costs and inevitably causes significant delays. To counteract these risks, pre-injection of the ground ahead of the advancing face with microcements and mineral based grouts is an economical approach. Rock or soil conditions causing stability problems for roadway excava tion is another possible reason for pre-injection. Poor and unstable ground can be improved by filling irregularities with grout material of suf ficient strength and adhesion. The RHEOCEM range of microcements represents a significant technological advancement in cementitious injection. Its unique feature is rapid and controlled setting, minimizing delays to the mining cycle of drill and blast. RHEOCEM includes Microfine Portland cements for rock, coal strata and soil injection as well as ground water sealing and ground stabilisation. Its small particle size and a specially adapted admixture system mean that it penetrates very well into tight joints, fissures and pore spaces to provide a water-tight grouted rock or soil mass. A unique addition to the MEYCO injection family is Colloidal Silica, mineralbased grout. Colloidal Silica is stable and consists only of natural ingredients, making it non-hazardous and very ecologically friendly. Thanks to its very low viscosity, Colloidal Silica penetrates finer fissures than any cement-based product and ensures unrivalled penetration and permanent stabilization of fine, silty sands. RHEOCEM and Colloidal Silica can be used with standard cement injection equipment, achieveing initial and final setting faster than normal and microfine cements. The stabilization of rock and coal strata is a common and proven practice in mines around the world. MEYCO offers a complete range of products and technical support to suit any problem you encounter. PUS improved performance and safety. MEYCO Polyurea Silicates represent the latest development in injection resins for coal and strata consolidation. The reduced reaction temperature combined with extremely quick hardening and bonding performance even in humid conditions has proven itself in many coal mines. Preventing water ingress Some features and benefits of MEYCO injection resins: Many of the products for preventing water ingress in underground structures can be adjusted on site using different accelerators to give varying set time performance properties to suit the specific conditions. The technical properties and health and safety aspects of all MEYCO polyurethanes and polyurea-silicate resins have been tested and certified by external bodies. MEYCO offers powerful polyurethane and urea-silicate resins to reinforce coal and adjoining rock, which have been specially developed to cure water leaks, reinforce rock beds and fill cavities. Both products are also suitable for fastening injection anchors and for use as a sealant protecting against gas or water leaks, as well as a solution for discontinuities in concrete. 7
