1 SECTION STORM UTILITY DRAINAGE PIPING PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 SUMMARY Section Includes: 1. Pipe and fittings. 2. Drain Basin. 3. De-chlorination tablet feeder. 4. Non-pressure transition couplings. 5. Duckbill check valve 1.2 SUBMITTALS Product Data: For each type of product indicated. Shop Drawings: 1. Drain Basins: Include plans, elevations, sections, details, frames, and grates for drain basins. 2. De-Chlorination tablet tube feeder: Include product literature, plans, elevations, sections, details 3. Duck bill valves: Include product literature, plans, elevations, sections, details 4. Non-pressure transition couplings: Include product literature, elevations, sections, details 5. Pipe: Include product literature, details, ce1iifications, loading information, bedding and backfill requirements and jointing 6. Specialty drains, funnel drains and air gaps: Include product literature, plans, sections, details Coordination Drawings: Show pipe sizes, locations, and elevations. Indicate interface and spatial relationship between drain basins, piping, and proximate structures. D. Profile Drawings: Show system piping in elevation. Draw profiles at horizontal scale of not less than 1 inch equals 10 feet and vertical scale of not less than 1 inch equals 5 feet. Indicate drain basins, in-line components, piping and valves. E. Product Ce1iificates: For each type of drain basin, pipe, joints, valves, coupling, and fitting, from manufacturer. 1.3 PROJECT CONDITIONS Interruption of Existing Storm Drainage Service: Do not interrupt service to facilities occupied by Owner or others unless permitted under the following conditions and then only after arranging to provide temporary service according to requirements indicated: 1. Notify Owner no fewer than two days in advance of proposed interruption of service. STORM UTILITY DRAINAGE PIPING

2 PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 PVC PIPE AND FITTINGS PVC Drain Piping: 1. Pipe: Schedule 40 pipe shall be manufactured from a Type I, Grade I Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) compound with a Cell Classification of per ASTM D1784. The pipe shall be manufactured in strict compliance to ASTM Dl 785 and D2665, consistently meeting and/or exceeding the Quality Assurance test requirements of these standards with regard to material, workmanship, burst pressure, flattening, and extrusion quality. 2. Fittings: injection molded to ASTM D2665, solvent weld 3. Certification: Pipe and fittings to conform to ANSI/NSF Standard NON-PRESSURE TRANSITION COUPLINGS Comply with ASTM C 1173, elastomeric, sleeve-type, reducing or transition coupling, for joining underground non-pressure piping. Include ends of same sizes as piping to be joined, and corrosion-resistant-metal tension band and tightening mechanism on each end. Shielded, Flexible Couplings: 1. Description: ASTM C 1460, elastomeric or rubber sleeve with full-length, corrosionresistant outer shield and corrosion-resistant-metal tension band and tightening mechanism on each end. Ring-Type, Flexible Couplings: 1. Description: Elastomeric compression seal with dimensions to fit inside bell of larger pipe and for spigot of smaller pipe to fit inside ring. 2.3 CLEAN OUTS Plastic Cleanouts: 1. Description: PVC body with PVC threaded plug. Include PVC sewer pipe fitting and riser to cleanout of same material as sewer piping. 2.4 FLOOR DRAINS - STANDARD Standard: A WW A C 105. Material: Josam" Lite line body with 5" round "Nikaloy" top, or equivalent by J.R. Smith, MIF AB Manufacturing Inc. or Zurn Industries LLC 2.5 FLOOR DRAINS - FUNNEL Standard: AWWA Cl05. Material: Josam" Lite line body with 7" round "Nikaloy top and 4" diameter funnel or equivalent by J.R. Smith or Zurn Industries LLC.. Funnel to be at least 3-3/4" high. 2.6 DRAIN BASIN PVC Drain Basin: 1. Description: Drain basins shall be manufactured from PVC pipe stock conforming to ASTM Dl 784, cell class as manufactured by "NYLOPLAST", a division of Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. or approved equal. 2. Diameter: Shall be as shown on the drawings, 24 and 30 inches. STORM UTILITY DRAINAGE PIPING

3 3. Connections to basins: Basin shall be formed to provide a watetiight connection. Joint tightness shall conform to ASTM D3212 using flexible elastomeric seals conforming to ASTMF477. Basin Frames and Covers: 1. Description: Grates and frames shall be integral to the drain basin. Grates and frames shall be specifically made for each basin so as to provide a round bottom flange that closely matches the diameter of the drain basin. 2. Grates and frames shall be ductile iron conforming to ASTM A536 grade Grates shall be slotted. 4. Grates and frames shall be "Neenah" R for 24" diameter applications and R for 30" diameter applications or equivalent products by other manufacturers. 5. Frame and grate shall be painted black. 2.7 DE-CHLORINATION TABLET TUBE FEEDER General: The tablet tube feeder shall be a specifically constructed one piece low linear, medium density, UV stabilized rotomolded polyethylene equipped with two (2) PVC removable feed tubes designed to hold 2-5/8" diameter tablets. The tubes are insetied through the top cover of the feeder into the stream flow of the water. The lower end of each tube shall be slotted to allow free flow of water through the tubes. Feeder shall be supplied with 4" pipe inlet and outlet Feeder shall be Exceltec International Corporation (EIC) Model 200 or equivalent. DE-CHLORINATION TABLETS Tablets for de-chlorination shall be 92.3% active sodium sulfite, 2-5/8" in diameter, 13/16" thick, 140 grams weight and a density of 2.0 grams/cc, and pale green in color. Tablets shall be manufactured by Severn Trent Exceltec, Norweco or equal. Provide one 45 pound container of tablets PIPE OUTLETS Pipe discharges in the drain basins shall be achieved with duckbill valves to prevent insect or vector intrusion. Duckbill valves shall be for 2" and 4" PVC pipe with stainless steel hose clamps connectors. Duckbill valves shall be manufactured by "Tideflex" Model TF-1 for the 4" and Model TF-2 for the 2" pipe. Equivalent products by other manufacturers will be considered EARTHWORK 2.11 Excavation, trenching, and backfilling are specified in Division 31. PIPING INSTALLATION General Locations and Arrangements: Drawing plans and details indicate general location and arrangement of underground storm drainage piping. Location and arrangement of piping layout take into account design considerations. Install piping as indicated, to extent practical. Where specific installation is not indicated, follow piping manufacturer's written instructions. STORM UTILITY DRAINAGE PIPING

4 D Install piping beginning at low point, true to grades and alignment indicated with unbroken continuity of invert. Place bell ends of piping facing upstream. Install gaskets, seals, sleeves, and couplings according to manufacturer's written instructions for use of lubricants, cements, and other installation requirements. Install proper size increasers, reducers, and couplings where different sizes or materials of pipes and fittings are connected. Reducing size of piping in direction of flow is prohibited. Install gravity-flow, non-pressure drainage piping according to the following: 1. Install piping pitched down in direction of flow. 2. Install PVC sewer piping according to ASTM D 2321 and ASTM F CLEANOUT AND FLOOR DRAIN INSTALLATION Install cleanouts, floor drains and riser extensions from sewer pipes to cleanouts at grade. Use PVC fittings in storm sewer pipes at branches for cleanouts and floor drains and PVC pipe for riser extensions to cleanouts and floor drains. Install piping so floor drains and cleanouts open in direction of flow in storm sewer pipe. Set cleanout frames and covers in concrete floor with tops flush with floor surface. Set floor drain frames and covers in the concrete floors to the elevations shown on the plan and flush with the surrounding concrete floor. DRAIN BASIN INSTALLATION General: Install drain basins, complete with appurtenances and accessories indicated. Where specific drain basin construction is not indicated, follow drain basin manufacturer's written instructions. Set tops of frames and covers flush with finished surface surrounding the drain basin. CONNECTIONS Connect non-pressure, gravity-flow drainage piping in building's storm building drains. Make connections to piping and drain basins. 1. Use commercially manufactured wye fittings for piping branch connections. 2. Remove debris or other extraneous material that may accumulate. Connect to sediment interceptors specified in Division 22 Section "Sanitary Waste Interceptors." D. Pipe couplings and expansion joints with pressure ratings at least equal to piping rating may be used in applications below unless otherwise indicated. 1. Use non-pressure-type flexible couplings where required to join gravity-flow, nonpressure sewer piping unless otherwise indicated. a. Unshielded, flexible couplings for same or minor difference OD pipes. b. Unshielded, increaser/reducer-pattern, flexible couplings for pipes with different OD. c. Ring-type flexible couplings for piping of different sizes where annular space between smaller piping's OD and larger piping's ID permits installation. STORM UTILITY DRAINAGE PIPING

5 IDENTIFICATION Furnish and install green warning tape directly over piping and at outside edge of underground structures. 1. Use detectable warning tape over nonferrous piping and over edges of underground structures. FIELD QUALITY CONTROL Inspect interior of piping to determine whether line displacement or other damage has occurred. 1. Submit separate reports for each system inspection. 2. Defects requiring correction include the following: a. Alignment: Less than full diameter of inside of pipe is visible between structures. b. Deflection: Flexible piping with deflection that prevents passage of ball or cylinder of size not less than 92.5 percent of piping diameter. c. Damage: Crushed, broken, cracked, or otherwise damaged piping. d. Infiltration: Water leakage into piping. e. Exfiltration: Water leakage from or around piping. 3. Replace defective piping using new materials, and repeat inspections until defects are within allowances specified. 4. Re-inspect and repeat procedure until results are satisfactory. Test new piping systems, and parts of existing systems that have been altered, extended, or repaired, for leaks and defects. 1. Do not enclose, cover, or put into service before inspection and approval. 2. Schedule tests and inspections with at least 24 hours' advance notice. 3. Submit separate report for each test. 4. Gravity-Flow Storm Drainage Piping: Test according to requirements of UNI-B-6, and the following: a. Test plastic piping according to ASTM F Leaks and loss in test pressure constitute defects that must be repaired. D. Replace leaking piping using new materials, and repeat testing until leakage is within allowances specified. END OF SECTION STORM UTILITY DRAINAGE PIPING
