2 IVC US Laminate Care & Maintenance Guide - Residential IVC US Laminate Care & Maintenance Guide Residential Your IVC US Laminate flooring will provide years of carefree use. You will find that it is not only beautiful, but durable. It is also easy to clean and maintain! It only takes a few simple care and maintenance steps to keep your IVC floor looking beautiful for years to come. To help protect and keep your floor clean, following these proper care and maintenance guidelines: Preventative Measures: void contact with dirt, sand, grit and substances such as oil or asphalt by placing carpets or vinyl-back doormats at the front- and backdoor. Use floor protectors and furniture legs/wheels with a large ground surface to limit the impact of heavy objects. Maintain a relative indoor air humidity of between 40% and 65% all year round, in order to limit natural expansion and contraction of the wood. If you have chairs with wheels, make sure they are made of soft rubber. Do not use vacuum cleaners with a rotating beater bar. Do NOT use a steam mop. Cleaning and Maintenance: The First Time: Remove all dirt and dust with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a soft parquet brush. Clean the floor with a dry dust cloth. Replace the dust cloth and clean again. Remove any remaining dirt with a laminate cleaner. Replace the dust cloth with a slightly damp cloth and clean again. If necessary, repeat the slightly damp cleaning process. Daily Use: Dry Cleaning Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft parquet brush or dry electrostatic dust cloths that attract dirt, dust and hair like a magnet. Work the floor cleaner lengthways along the panels, in an overlapping zigzag motion and with long strokes across the floor. Intensive Use: Slightly Damp Cleaning Wet cleaning is not recommended, because it can cause lasting damage to your floor. Clean your laminate flooring with a well wrung out cloth instead. Work the cloth lengthways along the panels, in a fluent zigzag motion across the floor, without applying pressure. Dry the surface thoroughly with a clean cloth and remove any puddles immediately. lways read the cautionary information on all cleaners prior to use. IMPORTNT: Never push, pull or drag furniture, appliances or other items across the floor. When moving furniture or heavy items, always lift and carry the items. Place hardboards between the flooring and object to move. 16 MKF_0027_1 10/28/15

3 IVC US Laminate Care & Maintenance Guide - Residential How to Treat Stains, Spills & Scuffs Follow the remedies in order. Unless instructed otherwise, use a clean, white cloth or towel with products recommended for IVC US Laminate flooring. lways rinse the affected area with clean water after treatment. Rubber marks, scrapes or scuffs from shoe heels, dirt from the street, pencil or crayon marks: Use a dust cloth. Fruit, berries, milk, beer, wine, tea, soft drinks: Wipe off immediately with an absorbent cloth - or with a damp cloth if it has already dried in - and rub dry. Blood, urine: Remove immediately with a damp cloth and wipe off any remaining dirt with a suitable laminate cleaner. Nail polish, shoe polish, varnish, ink, makeup, felt pen: Remove with a drop of acetone on a clean cloth which you should apply on the stain only. Follow the safety instructions that come with the product used. Do not use greasy chemical cleaners such as white spirit. Chocolate, fat, oil: Remove with a suitable laminate cleaner. Greasy stains: May occur after cleaning as certain cleaning products can leave an oily residue (film) on the floor. We recommend to mix 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice or plain vinegar in a bucket of clean water (1.3 gallons to 2.6 gallons) and mop the laminate with a well-wrung cloth (see instructions for intensive use). In case of a persistent residue, this will have to be repeated several times. CUTION! Isopropyl alcohol, lighter fluid, odorless mineral spirits and paint thinner are flammable solvents. Carefully read and follow cautionary information on their respective labels. Keep traffic off treated area for 30 minutes. 17 MKF_0027_1 10/28/15

The warranty period, when valid, begins on the date of the original installation. Residential use is defined as: use in living space environments (which do not have light or heavy commercial traffic) including all areas of owner-occupied residence. If there is a question as to the type of use that is considered residential, please contact your IVC US representative prior to purchase and installation. PLESE NOTE Residential warranty exclusions with respect to hard or metal wheels/casters due to the unusual characteristics of this type of wheel traffic. Furniture with wheels/casters must be fitted with soft wheels or must be placed on chair mat or floor mat protectors for hard surface. Ensure Laminate flooring is installed in an environment where the room temperature is between 65 F - 85 F (18 C - 29 C) for 48 hours before, during and after installation. Maintain a relative indoor air humidity between 40 % and 65% year round in order to limit natural expansion and contraction. Inspect flooring material prior to installation for any imperfections or manufacturing related defects. IVC US floorings receive extensive testing and visual examination in an attempt to assure your shipped floor is always first quality. It is the responsibility of the installer/end user to confirm the received material is free of any obvious visible conditions that may be detrimental to the appearance and/or performance of the product. Minor color, shade and/or texture variations are normal. ny variances between actual material, product samples and/or brochures should be addressed with your retailer prior to installation. If the retailer determines the condition unacceptable, the manufacturer should be informed immediately. Support furniture with wide, weight-bearing, smooth non-staining floor protectors or non-staining felt pads. The protectors/pads should be at least one inch in diameter, and rest flat on the floor. The heavier the item, the wider the floor protector should be. Non-staining felt pads should be inspected periodically and maintained with respect to the amount of foot traffic to remove imbedded material to avoid abrasion. Make sure any metal protectors are rust-proof. Replace narrow dome furniture rests with the appropriate width, weight-bearing flooring protectors. Chair mats designed for hard surface floors are recommended under all chairs and stools with wheels/casters. Rooms with immediate access to the street need a transition between the street and the room where the laminate is installed. We also recommend using a transition piece in each doorway. IVC US Laminate can be installed in residential bathroom settings as long as the IVC US Residential Bathroom Installation Guide - Laminate is followed. Damage from overflowing toilets, sinks or bathtubs are not included. Excludes Vitality laminate. Vitality laminate is not approved for bathroom installations. 12 IVC US Residential Installation Guide Laminate PXP & DXP IVC US Residential Installation Guide - Laminate PressXpress, DropXpress & ClickXpress Materials Required for Installation: Small hand saw Jigsaw Pencil Box cutter Measuring tape Pull Bar Waterproof adhesive tape Sanding block or sanding machine Spacers Tapping Block cceptable Underlayments IVC US s Laminate products are a floating floor system and can be installed directly over virtually any hard surface. Soft surfaces (such as wall-to wall carpet) must first be completely removed. We do not recommend installing over another floating floor system. Note: Do NOT nail or glue laminate product to subfloor. Concrete Moisture levels of concrete slabs before, during and after installation must be 8 lbs. or less per 1000 square feet per 24 hours using an anhydrous calcium chloride test according to STM F1869; or, if using STM F2170, the max RH score is 85 per 1000 square feet (relative humidity). If using the CM Method, the humidity of the concrete should not exceed 2.5% Wood Subfloor Wooden subfloors must be constructed according to local building codes, be structurally sound and deflection free. Repair any squeaky floor prior to installation. Sand or plane high spots. Fill all low spots with Portland cement based patching compound. It is not necessary to use a vapor retarder on top of a wooden subfloor. Wooden subfloors constructed over a crawl space must have adequate ventilation, 1.5 sq. ft. per 100 sq. ft. of floor space. Basement walls and floors must be dry to prevent damage due to excessive water vapor emissions into the wooden sub floor overhead. Radiant Heating IVC US laminate floors can be used without difficulty in combination with water floor heating on condition that the warm water lines are min. 1.2 inches (3 cm) underneath the surface and the contact temperature of the floor doesn t exceed 85 F (29 C) and the max warm water temperature is 122 F (50 C). Before installing the floor, you should take these aspects into account: Before you start, switch off the radiant heating; the floor should not exceed a temperature of 64 F (18 C); before, during and 24 hours after installation of the laminate. Install moisture barrier, underlayment and the laminate as described in the installation instructions. But first check the suitability of the underlayment in combination with radiant heating. fter the installation of the floor wait at least 24 hours before you switch on the radiant heating again. void excessive differences in temperature and turn your heating up or down step-by-step; (max. 41 F/day (5 C/day). The highest acceptable heat conductivity for any kind of floor covering is 0.15 K.m2/W. For electrical underfloor heating a value of 60W/m2 must not be exceeded 9 MKF_0026_2 10/28/15

13 IVC US Residential Installation Guide Laminate PXP & DXP Storage and Handling cclimate the flooring a minimum of 48 hours before installation in the area it is to be installed. Conditions between 65 F - 85 F (18 C - 29 C) and are required before, during and after installation. Relative indoor air humidity between 40% and 65% should be maintained. Leave the planks (packed) horizontally in the center of the room where you are going to install the laminate floor. Subfloor and Wall/Door Preparation The surface beneath the floor must be sufficiently prepared in advance to guarantee a successful installation of the flooring. Clean the subfloor and make sure it is smooth, flat, dry and sound. Remove any contaminates. Subfloor must be flat with a maximum 3/16 inch in a 3 foot span (4 mm in a 1 meter span) On concrete substrates, a moisture barrier is required. IVC US recommends installing Balterio ComfortSound underlayment. ComfortSound is an all in one solution (underlayment + moisture barrier). If you choose to use a separate underlayment and/or moisture barrier (PVC foil) from another manufacturer, please note this may void your warranty. Check the laminate planks for any defects. To measure the height of the doorframe, place a laminate plank with underlayment against the doorframe, with the design side down; mark the height and saw off the door and doorframe to the height marked. The laminate plank can then easily be pushed underneath the doorframe. Inspection of flooring material prior to installation is required. ny defects should be immediately reported to the retail store from which the flooring was purchased before installation. IVC US will not be responsible for labor costs to repair or replace material with defects that were apparent before or noticed at the end of an installation. NOTE: Do not install cabinets or walls on top of laminate floors. How to Install ComfortSound Underlayment Lay out ComfortSound underlayment from wall to wall, ensuring it lays flat and smooth. (Place logo side up.) llow ComfortSound underlayment sheets to rest up against one another. DO NOT overlap. Use Balterio Comfort LU Tape (waterproof adhesive tape) to tape ComfortSound underlayment sheets together. DO NOT overlap. Start of Installation It is the installer s responsibility to inspect the flooring prior to installation to ensure that there are no visual defects. Do not install flooring with visible defects. If visible defects are present, contact your retailer immediately. Floor must be clean, smooth, flat, sound and dry before installation. Check the laminate edges to assure it is free of debris or damage. To achieve maximum appearance, mix planks from two to three cartons from the same production. NOTE: Never nail or glue the Laminate product to the floor. Do not install cabinets or walls on top of laminate floors. The advantage of IVC US s Laminate PressXpress, DropXpress or ClickXpress locking system is that it allows you to choose your own starting position. Moreover, you may work either from right to left or from left to right, whichever is best in your own specific situation. Depending on the direction in which you work you are advised to begin from either a door or a corner. It is advisable to begin with the tongue side of the plank turned towards the wall. For plank designs, measure the width of the room and divide by the width of one plank. If the remainder is 2 ½ or less, cut down the width of the first row to allow the last row to be more than 2 ½ wide. Walls are not always straight. Snap a chalk line for your first row to follow. 18 IVC US Laminate Residential Bathroom Installation Guide IVC US Residential Bathroom Installation Guide - Laminate IVC Vitality laminate is not approved for bathroom installations. IVC US Laminate Bathroom Installation Steps If you are installing IVC US Laminate products in a residential bathroom, you will follow the IVC US Installation Guidelines Laminate PressXpress & DropXpress as instructed WITH the following additional steps: 1. On the plank you are about to install, put a generous bead of CLICK SEL along the left end joint and on the top of the tongue along the length as indicated below. pply enough to allow Click Seal to OOZE out. llow to dry (approximately minutes) before peeling off with finger nail or plastic putty knife. 2. 19 IVC US Laminate Care & Maintenance Guide - Residential IVC US Laminate Care & Maintenance Guide Residential Your IVC US Laminate flooring will provide years of carefree use.

20 IVC US Laminate Care & Maintenance Guide - Residential How to Treat Stains, Spills & Scuffs Follow the remedies in order.

21 IVC US How to File a Claim How to File a Claim If you find a defect or other matter covered by any of the limited warranties described previously, promptly notify the retailer who sold you the floor covering material. The retailer will review and if necessary file a claim with IVC US and help you answer any questions you may have. fter a warranty claim is properly filed, IVC s service coordinator will designate a representative to evaluate the warranty claim. This warranty is conditioned upon your reasonable cooperation with IVC and its service coordinator and representative in the evaluation of your warranty claim and the implementation of any remedy. What You ll Need Proof of your purchase in the form of a bill, invoice or statement from your IVC retailer that shows the date and price you paid for the vinyl flooring (including labor). 18
