4 SUMMARY This habilitation thesis presents the main scientific, professional and academic achievements of Mrs. Madalina Calbureanu following the defence of the PhD thesis in 2001 at the University of Pitesti, Faculty of Mechanics, as well as the future development plan. The main research area of the author fits into the vast and multi-disciplinary area of dynamics with applications in mechanical engineering as cinematic elements vibrations of the mechanisms, but also in civil engineering as dynamic responses of structures subjected to seismic action. The main professional achievements were registered in two domains, namely: mechanical vibrations (and, additionally, dynamics and seismic response) and heat and mass transfer with special results in efficiency of energy. Chapter I and II reveal the most important and relevant research directions pursued by the author: "Vibrations of cinematic elastic elements of the high precision mechanisms" with extrapolation in "vibrations of cinematic visco-elastic elements of the mechanisms," "vibrations of cinematic elements with rectilinear pair", "influence of the lubricant in rectilinear pair upon the vibration of the cinematic elements of the mechanisms", " Dynamic analysis of mechanical systems with deformable elements", "finite element modeling of seismic dampers for buildings","dynamic instrumentation of buildings subject to seismic movements. " Chapter III shows the most important research In the field of heat and mass transfer research directions: - "The numerical methods used in heat transfer", "Industrial energy efficiency", "Installations for heating and cooling", "Hygrothermal behaviour of buildings," "Thermal insulation in construction", "Thermo - energetic expertise." Experimental investigation methods represent the main tool of the research, supported at the same time by advanced numerical simulations and analytical tools. The habilitation thesis summarises the evolution of the research performed by the author following the defence of

5 the PhD thesis, as well as the main outcomes, outlining also the context in which the research was performed. There were 8 grants supporting the research: 6 national grants, 2 international grants and over 11 research contract with industry. The results were disseminated in 104 publications (journal and conference papers, and book chapters). Chapter IV summarise entire didactic activity of the author which has 23 years of teaching experience in mechanical engineering, optimization of mechanical parts, finite element analysis, modeling mechanical systems, five years of teaching experience in Seismology, dynamics and seismic response, safety of construction and 14 years of teaching experience in the energy efficiency of buildings, through teaching and research and publishing scientific papers. The author obtained her second PhD in 2014 in the field of civil engineering / construction engineering, seismic safety, dynamic instrumentation with application on buildings. Professional development of Ms. Madalina Calbureanu followed a wide pallet of activities, including participation to training courses, structural design, industry-oriented research, involvement in professional organisations and technical committees, code drafting, development of the research infrastructure, organisation of scientific events, short-term scientific missions, involvement in administrative duties and peer-review of scientific publications. Mrs. Madalina Calbureanu is Senior Member of International Engineering and Technology Institute, member of IAENG (International Association of Engineers), a member of the Board of AAECR - Energy Auditors Association of Romania, member of Scientix: As international recognition she has been Chairman of the Scientific Committee for the 4th International Conference on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (TAM '13), Cambridge, MA, USA, /cms.action?id= # She is also member of a several national professional organizations: - AAECR (Association of Energy Auditors of Romania); Now she is the President of the Oltenia AAECR Branch;

6 -SRMTA (Romanian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics); --ARTENS (Romanian Association Tensometry); -SIAR (Society for Automotive Engineering in Romania) - SRR ("Romanian Society of Robotics") - SRT ("Romanian Society of Termotehnicienilor"). The author was a member of the scientific committee of over 25 international conferences, member of the organizing committee, chaired two conferences and two sessions in the framework of international conferences. She was editor in chief of an international journal and editor of over 14 international journals. As a reviewer, its work includes a total of over 30 international conferences. In what concerns the academic area, Mrs Madalina Calbureanu throughout the period after sustaining PhD thesis in mechanical engineering was taught the courses of: Basics of Modeling the Mechanical Systems, Computer Aided Design, Finite Element Method, Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, Construction Safety, Safety against Earthquakes and Wind, Heat and Mass Transfer, Thermodynamics, Thermodynamics and Heat Engines, Isolation for Buildings, Cooling Installations for Buildings. All of them are supported by teaching aids developed by the author, which includes lecture notes and laboratory guidance books published in CNCSIS recognized publishing houses, as well as in electronic format. The author coordinates several bachelor works and dissertation, the subject of the latter is correlated with the on-going research directions. The author has been involved in teaching the course "Hygrothermal in buildings" in one project through Sectorial Operational Programme Human Resources Development It is authorized as a trainer for industrial auditors and managers. In 2008 it has been approved as "Formateur Relais cotation aux Normes ISO compliant" for Renault Technology Roumanie, from the University of Craiova. The continuous concern of the author in the areas mentioned above by the continued development of the career, led to obtaining authorization as an auditor industrial complex (thermo-electricity) as an energy auditor for buildings gr. I - constructions and installations. This led to a total of more than 11 contracts with economic business partners and recognition by soliciting her to be Expert Evaluator - technical expert for grants for 77 projects in nine

7 European funds -The Regional Operational DMI 1.2 "Supporting investments in energy efficiency of housing blocks "for ADR SV Oltenia. In what concerns the future development plan, several new research directions are identified: - Robotics in construction; - Seismic dampers for buildings using innovative materials and technologies; - Dynamic instrumentation of buildings with seismic vulnerability of the built environment; - Innovative technologies and materials for preparing nzeb - energy-efficient buildings; - Modern teaching methods - methods STEM - based on the promotion of teaching through scientific investigation. Each of the above mentioned research directions are already included in the European proposals (proposals 3 HORIZON 2020, 1 proposal on Cross Border) and national project made by the author in recent years as project director, partner and responsible member. Moreover, development of the international, national and industry-oriented cooperation is envisaged, as well as a more active role in grant applications and improvement of the research infrastructure. Last but not least, the teaching methods will be improved by involving the students through interactive learning techniques, modern methods already used in developed countries - STEM methods. Further development of the international cooperation at the academic level and continuing education are also targeted.
