4 DIVISION 08 - OPENINGS BRAMALEA SECONDARY SCHOOL ADULT EDUCATION - CLASSROOM & OFFICE RENOVATIONS LOUVRES Tender No. L Shop drawings shall bear the seal of the professional engineer, registered in the Province of Ontario, responsible for the structural design..2 Deflection limits for all members - a maximum of 1/175 of the span under design loading. Submit wind load calculations to the Consultant for approval before commencing fabrication..3 Design louvres to meet requirements indicated on Mechanical Drawings for net area, and percentage of free air. 1.5 STORAGE AND HANDLING.1 Inspect all materials for damage, immediately upon receipt. Do not accept damaged materials..2 Store louvers raised off ground and covered with weather proof, flame resistant protective coverings..3 Handle louvres in accordance with manufacturer s instructions. Lift by jambs only. Heads, sills and blades are not to be used for lifting or hoisting louver sections. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS.1 Aluminum Extrusions: ASTM B221M, Alloy 6063-T5, 6063-T6 or 6061-T6..2 Aluminum Sheet: ASTM B209M, Alloy 1100, 3003 or 5005 with temper as required for forming..3 Hardware, Fasteners:.1 Use stainless steel screws and fasteners..2 Use types and sizes to suit unit installation conditions..3 Provide all fasteners, clips, angles, sills, sill flashings, as required for the complete installation. 2.2 FABRICATION.1 Louvres to be fixed, heavy gauge extruded aluminum louvres with 152mm deep frame, with continuous weather resistant blades, complete with all necessary accessories; model SP-645 louvre by McGill Architectural Products. Equivalent louvres by Ten Plus Architectural Products Ltd., Ruskin or Gander will also be accepted.2 Fabricate louvres with mullions or reinforcing not visible on the outside. Finished appearance shall be that of continuous blades housed in a rectangular frame. Provide weep holes at 600mm o.c. for drainage to exterior..3 Provide all extruded aluminum angles and channels required to frame the louvre elements..4 Construct blades and frames of minimum 2.0mm thick aluminum 6063-T5. Securely fasten standard screen to louvre frame..7 Finish all aluminum exposed to view in the completed work in Series 10,000 2-coat flouropolymer paint with Kynar 500 resin, to AAMA standard..8 Louvres in precast concrete panels shall match existing colour. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 FABRICATION.1 Fabricate the Work of this Section by skilled craftsmen in accordance with the best practice in the shops or companies specializing in the Work specified..2 Execute fitting and assembly of louvres in the shop with the various parts or assemblies ready for erection at the Site..3 Fabricate the Work true to dimensions, square, plumb and level. Accurately fit joints and intersection members with adequate fasteners..4 Fabricate the finished work free from distortion and defects detrimental to appearance and performance..5 Weld connections where possible; where not possible, bolt connections or secure in an approved manner. Countersink exposed fastenings and cut off bolts flush with nuts, and make as inconspicuous as possible..6 Provide fabricated metal work complete with all components required for anchoring to concrete or masonry. Perform all drilling of concrete necessary to anchor components..7 Insulate where necessary to prevent electrolysis due to metal to metal contact or contact between metal and masonry or concrete; use bituminous paint, butyl tape, or manufactured galvanic corrosion protection tapes..8 Provide all necessary templates and instructions where fastenings or anchors have to be built in by others. Verify all dimension on the Site before preparing drawings or proceeding with shop work..9 Supply and build in 1.02mm thick sheet aluminum flashing where required to prevent entry of moisture into building. 3.2 INSTALLATION.1 Install louvres in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and reviewed shop drawings..2 Fasten louvre frame to supporting structure plumb, level and true..1 Maximum variation from plane or location shown on the approved shop drawings 3mm in 3048mm. 6 DIVISION 08 - OPENINGS BRAMALEA SECONDARY SCHOOL ADULT EDUCATION - CLASSROOM & OFFICE RENOVATIONS LOUVRES Tender No. L Erection tolerances shall prevail under both load and no load conditions..3 Do not cut or trim components during installation without written approval and instruction from the manufacturer..4 Ensure blank offs are provided for unused portions of the louvre area from inside with insulated panels adequately fixed to frames and blades to prevent vibration. Blank off panels to be as specified in Division Blank off panels to be sealed in manner to ensure continuity of the thermal and vapour seal of the building skin..6 Protect galvanized and nonferrous-metal surfaces that will be in contact with concrete, masonry, or dissimilar metals from corrosion and galvanic action by applying a bituminous paint, butyl tape, or specialty galvanic corrosion protection membrane..7 Seal joints in metal sheets and between panel and frame. Seal at perimeter of louvres. Comply with Section Perform all drilling of concrete and masonry necessary to anchor components..9 After installation, touch up to make good the shop coat of finish. 3.3 CLEANING AND PROTECTION.1 Clean work area as work progresses, leaving area clean at the end of each work day. Clean all louvres at the completion of installation work..2 Protect installed materials to prevent damage during the remainder of the construction period. Remove protective coverings immediately prior to occupancy of building by Owner..3 Clean all surfaces immediately prior to occupancy of building.
