Timber structures supporting the panel must be designed and constructed in accordance with AS1684.2:2010 and AS1684.3:2010 as applicable. 4. The board must be laid in a dry condition after all wet site operations have been completed. Damp-proof membranes and vapour control layers should be incorporated as necessary in accordance with relevant standards. 5. Minimum board thickness of 9mm for pitched roofs, 11 mm for flat roofs without access (except maintenance) and 15mm for flat roofs with access must be used. 6. Fixings used to attach boards to timber structure must be appropriate for the wind region of the building. 2 7. Due to condensation, the board must not be used as flat roof decking to buildings where insulation occurs above the supporting deck. 8. SWISS KRONO OSB should be treated as conventional plywood sheathing with regard to detailing at openings, eaves and sole plate, the fixing of wall ties and breather paper, and the effect of openings on racking strength. 9. Where weather resistance is required, a waterproof material must be installed over the panels in accordance with the relevant standards. 10. Movement gaps must be provided between panels to allow expansion due to moisture and temperature. 11. This Certificate is issued based on the evidence of compliance as detailed herein. Any deviation from the specifications contained in this Certificate is outside of this document s scope and the installation of the certified product/system will not be covered by this CodeMark certification. This may result in the product being classified as a non-conforming building product/system. Scope of certification: The CodeMark Scheme is a building product certification scheme. A2 Description of product SWISS KRONO OSB/3 board comprises softwood flakes/strands bonded together with MUPF (melamineurea- phenolic) resin, MDI (diisocyanate diphenylmethane) binder and waxes. The board is manufactured to the specification detailed in BS EN 300: 1997 for OSB/3, loadbearing oriented strand boards for use in humid conditions. To be installed in accordance with the requirements of AS1684.2: Recommended Nails screws and staples 2.8mm diameter x30mm flathead galvanised or corrosion resistant nails, or their gun driven equivalent are in accordance with AS Minimum edge clearance for fasteners is 7mm. 5. Source: Certification Holder Flooring SWISS KRONO OSB/3 is suitable for use as domestic or commercial flooring. The board should be laid in a dry condition after all wet site operations have been completed. Dampproof membranes and vapour control layers should be incorporated as necessary. Although temporary exposure to the elements is permissible during installation, this must be for the shortest possible period. If wetted, the boards must be allowed to dry out thoroughly before applying any floor coverings or surface coatings, or subjecting the boards to the full design load. 6 When used in high risk areas, such as kitchens and bathrooms, the board, in common with other wood and wood-based products, should be protected from wetting, for example, by providing a continuous waterproof covering, turned up and sealed at junctions with walls, and where services pass through the floor. A6 Other relevant technical data Behaviour in relation to moisture In common with all timber products OSB is subject to moisture movement. As a guide, an increase in moisture content of 1% increases the length and width of a board by 0.3 mm per metre run. Under the same environmental conditions OSB will take longer to equilibrate and will attain an equilibrium moisture content some 2% to 3% lower than solid timber. To avoid distortion and damage to finishes, movement gaps, should be provided when installing the board. To minimise subsequent movement, before installation the board should be conditioned as close as is practicable to the environmental conditions likely to occur in service. Durability In common with other wood-based panels, the board is likely to lose strength and stiffness, and be susceptible to fungal attack, when subjected to prolonged high humidity or wetting, care should be taken in designing, detailing and constructing buildings to ensure that moisture does not accumulate within the board.
