1 TASK INSTRUCTIONS CAUSES
2 HELLO AGAIN! 1. So you made it through the first phase, great! Now let s see how you tackle what s next. If you haven t been on board before, not to worry - here are some instructions to get you on your way: There are three EduCycle task sections; Effects, Causes and Decisions. Each section of tasks will appear on our site as a free, downloadable PDF, every 2 weeks. 2. Each section consists of three tasks: Research Create Share The Guiding Questions are there to provide ideas and inspiration, and are meant to be used with consideration to your students age and level. They have been divided into three categories Easy, Average and Challenging. We trust you are the right person to judge what your kids are made of, so pick one that suits their level of understanding and research abilities best! The instructions consist of the Teacher s Guideline and the Student Tasks. There are also some Hot Tips sprinkled around the instructions to give you ideas of how to guide your students through the tasks. We d love to see what you get up to, so please share your students work with us! Share on any social media channel with #EduCycleExchange.
3 CAUSES Teacher s Guideline 1 RESEARCH You ve divided your class into six groups in the previous task, now give each group one of these climate change causes to work on: Power Production Industrial Production Waste Treatment Housing Transportation Agriculture Give them the tasks on the opposite page, and the guiding questions related to their cause, with consideration to their age and level. Let the groups answer the guiding questions and research their cause, and especially how the cause is evident in your home region. HOT TIP Please see p.10 for Useful Links, that your students might find helpful during research. 2 CREATE Have the groups discuss (or decide for them) a creative way of presenting their cause of climate change. The guiding questions can be used as a source of ideas and inspiration. Ways of presentation could be: A mind map A research project poster A poster A poem A comic A rap song A drawing An essay Ways of presentation can be varied within your class, but should be in a concrete form, so that they can easily be photographed and shared on social media. 3 SHARE Share your students work on social media with #EduCycle and track any comments/discussion they receive. Have each group present their work to class. Host an interactive discussion, comparing the climate change causes different groups found during their research. HOT TIP Are your students parents active in social media? Notify them of your project, and invite them to join your climate change discussion online!
4 CAUSES Student s Tasks 1 2 RESEARCH You now have one cause of climate change to research. Look to your guiding questions for support and inspiration. How is your cause present in your home region? If necessary, you may research the topic using different information sources for support. CREATE Go ahead and start your creative work! Present how your cause is detectable in your home region in a creative way. 3 SHARE Present your work to your class. How are the causes of climate change you discovered different from theirs? Are any of your climate change causes linked with another group s cause? Did your teacher share your work on social media? What kinds of comments did it receive?
