When it first opened, they assembled their logging mats outside. (Not an ideal situation in winter!) As soon as they could, they built a 12,000 square foot shop and moved operations indoors. At first, they heated it with a coal furnace that just barely kept up when it got very cold and only when it was loaded every four hours. In a short time, wanting to expand their services, they built another shop. They installed a grinder and dust collection system in order to collect all of their wood waste, then sent it to a nearby power plant. They were shipping off trailer loads of wood waste, and yet struggling to heat their shops! Moving to a unit that could burn wood chips made a lot of sense. The Heatmaster SS biomass furnace arrived in the fall of 2016, just in time for winter. They quickly put this workhorse to the test and after one winter, the B Series proved it could easily heat their 24,000 square feet of space.
