Armstrong ceased discarding post-industrial cork waste and began recycling it first into corkboard insulation, and soon afterward into the naturally-based product on which our modern flooring business was built: linoleum. Today, Armstrong continues to use natural ingredients such as linseed oil, wood powder and jute backing that were used in the early 1900s. 3 Green Through Every Step The Armstrong linoleum plant in Delmenhorst, Germany is one of the few linoleum plants in the world. For over 100 years, linoleum has been manufactured here with a strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental consciousness.
