3 Our Locations The Crofton mill is located in a vibrant area on the southeast coast of Vancouver Island in the Cowichan Valley, near Duncan. Our operations and communities. Catalyst operates 3 mills in coastal British Columbia communities, as well as a major distribution centre in Surrey BC. Our corporate headquarters is in Richmond BC, near Vancouver. We have been the leading employer and a key member of our communities for many years. In 2012, our Powell River mill celebrated its 100th year of operation. Catalyst mills play an important role in the cultural, social and economic health of BC communities. The Port Alberni mill is located at the head of picturesque Alberni Inlet on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The Powell River mill is located on the mainland coast of BC. Our products range from book grades and newsprint, to prestige grades for glossy brochures, catalogues, retail flyers, magazines, and everything in between. Our lighter basis weight papers offer distinct advantages from a cost and environmental viewpoint, while maintaining high quality and exceptional pressroom performance. Catalyst is also a key producer of pulp - known the world over for its high quality. We make two grades of reinforcement grade NBSK (Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft) pulp, known for its runnability, printability and strength. Our paper and pulp products are shipped directly from our west coast warehouses and deep water port in Crofton BC across North America to Latin America and the Pacific Rim. This capability is a strategic advantage to our customers. Sage is fully transparent offering 100% certified fibre sources, a robust PEFC* chain of custody system, use of 89% renewable energy, and is manufactured carbon neutral to ISO standards. Sage also makes data concerning environmental performance available through EPAT, an assessment tool developed by GreenBlue. Sage *PEFC is the world s largest forest certification organization. An international non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management. EPAT (Environmental Assessment Tool) is a tool that allows buyers and sellers of paper products to evaluate environmental performance data along the paper supply chain.
