Opportunities & challenges after Fukushima accident National Strategic decision-making and deployment The importantly strategic period of China nuclear development after Fukushima accident; for the need of increased supply of electricity; for the need of adjustment of energy structure; for the clean energy. China will make great effort to develop renewable energy and nuclear energy, and try to achieve the objective which is that the consumption of the non-fossil energy accounts for about 15% of primary energy by 2020.
There hasn t been any radiation death accident, level 2 or higher nuclear power plant accident. Security level has been set higher to new nuclear power plants. Important strategic period for China s nuclear development after Fukushima accident. Continue to see growth in the nuclear industry in China, nuclear is still needed for increased supply of electricity and adjustment of energy structure. Move more cautiously Tenth Five Plan of Nuclear Safety and Radioactive Pollution Protection and Prospective Goal for 2020 is passed by State Council general, intensified and systematic safety check on all nuclear facilities. 4

China Nuclear Power development Total generated electricity was TWh and total electricity generated by nuclear power was 37.7TWh, accounting for 2.59% until the 3rd quarter of Total installed capacity of electricity was 1247GWe. China has 20 nuclear reactors currently in operation, with a capacity of 18.13GWe, accounting for 2% of the total capacity. Additional 28 units, with the capacity of 29.48GWe, are under construction. According to the Government s nuclear power program, the total capacity of nuclear power plants will reach 58GWe by the end of 2020, while the other 30GWe will be under construction % 84.63% 2.39% 11.05% 2.61% 23.74% 2.59% 1.93% Thermal Hydro Nuclear Other Percentage of generated electricity( 3 rd Quarter of 2014)

Domestic U Industry All the domestic uranium production centers are carried out by China National Nuclear Corporation. It s a 100% state owned company which also engages in oversea projects. 100% State Owned Company China National Nuclear Corporation(CNNC) Controls all the domestic projects inside China Dept. of Mining & Geology, CNNC Wholly owned subsidiaries of CNNC Bureau of Geology (BOG) China Nuclear Uranium Corporation (CNUC) China Uranium Corporation Ltd.(CUC) 12
Uranium demand & supply In order to meet the demand droved by faster growing of nuclear power in China, Chinese government has taken measures to emphasize the important of uranium fuel supply. Uranium supply will be guaranteed through three main channels, to ensure a stable supply of nuclear fuel for domestic nuclear power plants. Uranium Supply for NPPs Domestic Production Overseas Exploitation International trade
Strategy for securing the supply Exploration and mining in China Streamlining the management system and organization Technological innovation Cooperation with other peers and corporations More drilling program and upgrade the production capacity Exploration and mining oversea CNNC in Niger, Africa, Mongolia, Canada CGNPC in Irkol mine Kazakhstan, Namibia Sino steel & CGNPC in Australia Trade with other countries Central Asia, Africa, Russia, Australia, Canada. 14
Uranium Exploration The new discovered uranium resource from 2009(191400) has increased dramaticly. Uranium resource in China totalled tU according to the latest data.
