2 Critical Contractor Information Please Read Installation and Handling for Praxis Acrylic Bathware Units This booklet of information is intended to facilitate the proper handling and installation of Praxis Acrylic Bathware units. Compliance with the instructions will greatly reduce installation time, job site stress, errors leading to the need of costly re-work or repair, and the possibility of job site damage. Resting on the drain will cause drainage problems. Please store the units such that they are not resting on their drains. Units may be placed face down as long as they are still enclosed in their box and are kept stationary. 7 IN ORDER TO ENSURE PROPER DRAINING OF THE UNIT, YOU MUST: A) CORE DRILL A DIAMETER OF 10 AND A DEPTH OF 1/2 ON A CONCRETE SURFACE THAT IS PREFABBED AROUND THE DRAIN PIPE OR B) BOX OUT A DIAMETER OF 10 AND A DEPTH OF 1/2 IN THE POURED SLAB AROUND THE DRAIN PIPE. FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL ALLOW THE FLOOR SURFACE OF THE UNIT TO MAINTAIN ITS DRAFT AND ALLOW THE UNIT TO DRAIN PROPERLY. THIS IS ABSOULTELY NECESSARY TO ALLOW FOR THE DEPTH OF THE DRAIN PULL THAT MAY GO BELOW THE BOTTOM OF THE THRESHOLD OF THE UNIT. I n s t a l l a t i o n, S t o r a g e & C l e a n i n g G u i d e 6

15 ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR EACH MODEL ARE ENCLOSED WITH EACH UNIT. INSTALLER MUST UTILIZE AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ENCLOSED WITH THE PRODUCT. I n s t a l l a t i o n, S t o r a g e & C l e a n i n g G u i d e 14

16 Use this unit only for its intended purpose as described in this bulletin. Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer. Never drop or insert any objects into any openings. DANGER: RISK OF ELECTRiCAL SHOCK! Connect only to a separate circuit protected by a ground f ault circuit interrupter (GFCI)... The unit must be connected to a circuit interrupter (GFCI). Such a circuit is provided by the installer and should be tested on a routine basis. To test the GFCI push the TEST button. The GFCI should interrupt power Push the RESET button. Power should be restored, if the GFCI fails to operate in this manner, there is a ground current flowing, indicating the possibility of an electrical shock. Do not use this unit. Disconnect the unit and have the problem corrected by a qualified service representative before using, Traction enhanced-textured tub bottom must remain dean to minimize slippage. DANGER- RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK. For whirlpool units supplied with an optional in-line Heater, the heater must be connected to a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). All electrical connections must be accomplished be a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electric Code and any local codes. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS This whirlpool product and its components are UL listed or UL recognized. INSTALLATION PLANNING: NEVER lift with pull by or bump whirlpool piping. To do so may cause leaks and will! void the Warranty. Check level and quality of floor. An uneven floor may impede proper installation of the product. Floor structure must be capable of supporting 100 pounds per square foot. Installation must comply with local and national codes. A dedicated 120v/20a circuit protected by a ground default circuit interrupter (GFCI) is required. Whirlpool models with in-line heaters require an additional 120v/20a circuit protected be GFCI. 17 Care & Cleaning Acrylic & Gelcoat Units Care and Cleaning of Acrylic Units The surface of the unit is made of extremely durable and glossy acrylic, but the surface is vulnerable to the harsh conditions of a construction site. Please use caution with tools, boots and handling of the unit. It is recommended to save the cardboard from the packaging and place it on the floor to stand on while working on the unit. The following non-abrasive cleaning products are recommended for cleaning your Aquarius acrylic tub or shower unit: Ivory liquid, Dawn liquid, or any other liquid dishwashing cleansers. A vinegar and water solution. Alcohol or mineral spirits may be used on difficult spots to clean. If the unit received has a painted applied textured floor, please use the box which contained the unit as a mat in the unit while doing any plumbing in the unit. This will protect the painted surface and reduce clean-up to a minimum. If dirt does get on the painted surface use any liquid cleaner (Ajax, Pine Sol, etc.) to clean it safely without jeopardizing the textured surface. Note: Never use paint thinner or acetone solutions to clean the unit as they will damage the glossy finish of the acrylic. For any additional assistance or advice, contact the Customer Service Department of Praxis at Check our web-site at Care and Cleaning of Gelcoat Units Abrasive cleaners must not be used on any gelcoat unit as they may scratch and dull the surface. To clean the unit after installation, use warm water and one of the stronger liquid detergents, such as: Top Job, Liquid Ajax or Mr. Clean. Use these liquid detergents for normal day-to-day cleaning also. Plaster can be removed with a nylon or polypropylene scrubber. Do not use steel wool, metal scraper, wire brush or other metal tools. One of the powder type detergents, such as Spic & Span, may be used on a damp cloth to provide mild abrasive action to remove residue plaster. Minor stains can be removed with a household strength ammonia or bleach. A periodic scrub down with a gel gloss or a dishwashing detergent (wear rubber gloves) will usually remove any soap or mineral deposits. Periodic waxing with an automotive polish followed by a light application of liquid wax, such as Johnson s Jubilee will add luster and preserve the finish. Lighted smoking materials will leave burn marks on fiberglass products. This or other similar damages can often be repaired by rubbing the affected area with an automotive type polishing compound, such as Dupont No. 7, followed by an automotive body wax, such as Simoniz. More severe burns require careful sanding with grit wet carborundum sandpaper and a final rub out with the automotive polishing compound and wax. Extensive damage can be completely repaired. Such repair work should be performed by a professional service repairman in your area. If local service is not available, or if you need further assistance contact Praxis. 18 PRAXIS WARRANTY INFORMATION The products manufactured and sold by Praxis are under warranty for a period of Three (3) Years on gelcoat and Five (5) Years on acrylic products. This warranty applies to the materials and the workmanship of the product. If the product shall prove to have material defects, manufacturing defects or other labor defects, during the warranty period, it shall be repaired or replaced at the discretion of the warranty department of Praxis. EXCEPTIONS: This warranty shall not apply to incorrect operating procedures, breakage or damage caused by neglect, improper maintenance, abuse, misuse, alterations, alteration or modification to the unit by the buyer or anyone representing the buyer. It will not cover chemical corrosion, natural corrosion, fire or any other act by the force of nature. The buyer of this product is fully responsible for the proper installation of this unit. Praxis will not be held responsible for any damages resulting from improper installation This warranty does not apply to any equipment or accessories not installed by Praxis and we will not be held liable for any results of such acts. Praxis is not responsible for any consequential or incidental mishaps, inconvienience, time loss, incidental expense, materials or labor related to the implementation of hardware or the actual tub. All warranty will be implemented at the discretion of the Praxis Warranty Department upon the summation and evaluation of the circumstances involving the product in question. Praxis will not be responsible for improper function of slide bars with less than a 1/2 clearance. Factory installed valve - All plumbing has been water tested at the plant. Any leakage that occurs after installation will not be considered warranty and will be the responsibility of the installer. Do not rough in on the valve wall until the unit has been received and is in place.
