Founded in 2005, the American Progressive Bag Alliance (APBA) is a group of American plastic bag manufacturers that represent a thriving and growing industry employing 30,800 American workers. APBA s current areas of focus include: Increasing recycling opportunities Litter prevention Increasing bag reuse City proposals that could impact consumer use of plastic bags Correcting misperceptions concerning litter and waste 3

Processing Having invested $25MM in the state-of-the-art recycling facility, Hilex reprocesses the post-consumer material with a series of sorting, washing, flaking, and pelletizing equipment.

9 Summary Description of Bag-2-Bag Reverse Logistics Hilex recovers post-consumer material from its customers central consolidation facilities. Material from retail locations are backhauled to the retailer s warehouse whereupon the plastic is baled. Processing Having invested $25MM in the state-of-the-art recycling facility, Hilex reprocesses the post-consumer material with a series of sorting, washing, flaking, and pelletizing equipment. The renewed raw material is then distributed to the company s manufacturing plants for introduction into new bags. Completing the Loop New bags are manufactured with the material at any one of Hilex plants and sold back to customers at no extra cost through their normal distribution channels. Depending on customer graphic design and branding preferences, the Bag-2-Bag logo is printed on the product.
