2 The Institute for Energy and Hydro Technology The Institute for Energy and Hydro Technology (IEHT) began the modern stage of training in the Ministry of Energy in The Institute was promoted to a research and qualified organization after three years. The Institute continues the technology training and research as one of the most equipped and experienced water and power industry based educational centers.
3 The Institute for Energy and Hydro Technology It is built up in a total area of 65 hectares and an estimated person-month training capacity of training. The Institute of Energy and Hydro Technology has currently 82 full time faculty members. IEHT undertakes training of experts and employees of the power and water industries in 6 training and research campus and some training units as follows:
4 campus Azarbaijan Higher Training and Research campus in Tabriz, Isfahan Higher Training and Research campus in Isfahan, Khorassan Higher Training and Research campus in Mashhad, Qarb Higher Training and Research campus in Kermanshah, Fars Higher Training and Research campus in Shiraz, khozestan Higher Training and Research campus in ahvaz,
5 training Units Mazanderan Training Unit in Sari, Tehran Training Unit in Tehran, Gilan Training Unit in Rasht, Zahedan Training Unit in Zahedan. Qanat Technical Training Unit in Taft,yazd, The International Training centre in Qeshm, Bonab Training Unit in Bonab, National Training Center for Energy Management in Tabriz. There are some branches in other cities, including Boushehr, Hamadan, Urmiyeh, Sanandaj and, which run short courses, based on the need and interest in the region.

7 Scope of Activities: The Institute t takes action to meet water and power industries educational and research needs within the framework and the regulations of the Ministry i of Energy and the Ministry i of Science, Research and Technology in the following programs:
8 Scope of Activities: Short-term term training courses in order to promote skills and capabilities of the water and power industries personnel. Graduate and postgraduate programs in collaboration with the University of Applied science and Technology. Research and Development in Energy and Hydro technologies.
9 Fields of Training and Research: IEHT covers the following fields in the training, educational and Research programs: Water and wastewater technology, Environment, health and safety, Electrical power plants, Power distribution, transmission and networks, Qantas, Process automation and control systems, Information Technology (IT),
10 Short-term Courses: Short-term courses are offered to update and enhance the knowledge of the personnel in the water and power industries. Approximately, 20, person - months are trained annually in the short term courses in the Institute'ss training centers.
11 Long-term Courses: The graduate and undergraduate students are admitted through University of Applied science and Technology national examination. The graduates will be awarded the degrees which are approved by the Ministry of Sciences, Research and Technology.
12 The undergraduate programs include: Electrical Engineering (power systems, automatic control and instrumentation). Civil Engineering (water and wastewater, hydrology, dams and water networks, water systems and underground water and Qanat operation and maintenance),
13 The undergraduate programs include: Mechanical Engineering (thermal systems of power plants, mechanical repairs and power plant operation). Software System Technology, there are Accounting in water and power industry. There are approximately 6000 full -time students in the Institute. The modular programs cover 2500 students.
14 Training and Research facilities: Each campus of the Institute has departments of Electrical l Engineering, i Water and Environment, Power Plants, Management and Control Systems. There are equipped laboratories and workshops, computer centers, libraries, audio-video deo centers and language training centers, dormitory, forum and gymnasium and other facilities in each campus. The Institute has published more than hundred books and educational packages, in different fields of activities. iti

18 Aim of the Project The NTCEM project aims for the promotion of energy management in the industry sector of I.R. Iran in order to improve its Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) by at least 10% using the designated technical training.
19 The main activities of the project The Establishment of the Energy Management Training Center where human resources are developed. This center trains energy managers in industrial i sector, which may result in effective use of energy. The Development of Human Resources by training the energy managers in the industries, who are responsible for energy saving in their factories
20 How to implement the trained materials into the industry Once the theoretical as well as the practical training completed, the extrainees return back to their factories to accomplish and perform the trained energy efficiency measures in their own activities.
21 The project impacts Technical Impacts: Both theoretical and practical training are carried out for the proper operation of equipments and facilities in the factories. Economic Impact: As the energy management in industries will improve, it contributes to the national economy and the international balance of payments Environmental Impact : energy conservation will contribute to the environmental conservation by decreasing CO2 emission
22 The duties of the relevant organizations in the project of the NTCEM 1. Energy egyefficiency ce cyoffice (EEO): Taking the whole responsibility of the project, construction of the building, supervision on the activities and development of the center 2. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA): The preparation for the building layout, procurement for the training i mini i plants, providing the technical materials and necessary advises.
23 The duties of relevant organizations in the project of the NTCEM 3. Iran Energy Efficiency Organization (SABA): The selection of the candidates and nomination of the trainees, conducting the external evaluation of the courses and developing the evaluation reports 4. Azarbaijan Higher Education and Research Complex (AHERC): Implementation of the training courses, conducting the internal evaluation of the courses, accommodation of trainees and issuing the trainee's certificates

26 Training Courses of the Center Concerning the situation with the energy consumptions in the industries and the expertise needed for energy management, 3 training courses have been defined as follows: 1- General Course 2- Heat Course 3- Electricity Course
27 Forecasting the number of trainees for different industrial sectors There are 2200 factories that have more than 50 employee in which 80% of final energy consumption of industry sector belong to them. Training of 1200 energy managers of factories which has 5 MWe demand, is in the priority list for the first 4 years of activities.
28 Qualification for the Training Certificate After completing the training courses, the trainees go back to their factories to make a report on the analysis of the factory energy flow as well as an implementation plan for energy management Only the trainees whose reports satisfy the qualification level of the training center, can obtain the training certificates
29 Achievements of the Project Organizing the theoretical training courses, supported by the mini-plant tests to give a practical view to the trainees Operation and maintenance of the training facilities and equipments Publishing and revising the training textbooks, test sheets and necessary documents
30 Achievements of the Project Holding exams for participants in General, Heat and Electricity courses and issuing the certificates Know-how of internal and external evaluations, Map method (A method for Energy Audit) and ESCO development, transferred by Japanese short-term experts
31 Achievement of the Project Monitoring, calibration, maintenance and ddefect removal of the equipments with the help of Japanese experts Conducting the Practical Energy Audit done by long-term experts and Iranian C/P in Cement, Iron Casting and Textile factories Designing and the installation of the lighting laboratory in cooperation with the Japanese experts

33 Achievements of the Project Conducting the internal and external evaluations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the training courses, respectively 145 submitted reports from 95 factories show that a 7% reduction in the Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) of fthese factories has been achieved. The designated target is 10% after 4 years of the activities of the center.
