21 Household Waste Recycling Centre Research 16 local authorities operating across 80 HWRC sites offering separate containers for carpets = 16,000 tonnes of domestic carpets per year from 2.5 million households; 6.4 kg of carpet waste per household Redfield Road site in Nottingham increased landfill diversion rate by 4% achieving 94% total diversion working Local authorities can significantly increase diversion rates by recovering post consumer carpets

22 Resource Efficiency in Carpet Manufacture 8 case studies prepared by BRE and CRUK: Highlighted features include: Reduction in raw materials usage Use of recycled content Design to increase life of product on the floor Take back and reuse projects
