2 1. About Environamics Environamics Inc is an interior specialty contracting company that manufactures Symbio TM floor to ceiling movable wall systems. Environamics Inc was founded in 1980 and is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Major customers include Balfour Beatty Construction, Bank of America, Wells Fargo Bank, MetLife, Compass Group and the Ritz Carlton Hotel, as well as government departments such as the Treasury, DOT, FCC and FAA. 2. About this declaration This Type III Environmental Product Declaration has been prepared by Intertek on behalf of Environamics. The declaration is based on the Intertek EPD format, the international standard ISO14021 (Environmental labels and declarations Self- declared environmental claims (Type II environmental labelling)) and the Demountable Interior Wall System product category rule developed by Earthsure. This declaration covers the following product: Symbio TM Movable Walls 3. Product Applications and Technical Data The Symbio Movable wall system is an interior floor- to- ceiling wall product that is designed to create internal divisions, offices, rooms or partitions within existing buildings. The wall system is termed movable or demountable because it is not structural and so can be removed or moved. In terms of the life cycle, the cradle to gate life cycle stages dominate the results (these include everything up to the point at which the walls are manufactured and ready to leave the Environamics facility). Transport to the customer and disposal at the end of the walls life make up only a very small portion of the environmental impact. In short, production of aluminum is the most important factor determining the product s climate change results. LCA Results The LCA results are based on this functional unit: One square meter of demountable interior wall for 30 years meeting all the testing and labeling requirements for wall as outlined in the International Building Code (I) The table below shows the Life Cycle Assessment results in the categories recommended by the product category rules: 4

6 5. Environamics Inc Environmental Statement and Goals Environamics Inc aggressively practices environmental awareness and has established goals towards being sustainable. It is the goal of our company to show through programs, plans and activities, that the full height wall product solutions are also participating in the important stewardship of the planet. Environamics Environmental Awareness Statement As a corporate steward in our communities, through continuous improvement, we will: Minimize waste by following prioritized order of reduce, recycle, compost, incinerate, landfill. Implement technologies and processes to use energy resources efficiently. Strive to surpass conformance to the law, compliance being the minimum standard set. Use company resources to promote environmental awareness and encourage compliance to all those involved in our business, including employees, vendors, customers, neighbors and competitors. Review and improve the environmental impact of materials used in our products and processes. Environmental Goals Eliminate the use of landfills from both production and field installation uses. Reduce waste of materials used in production as well as in the packaging materials used for shipping. Educate about the positive impact on landfills of relocatable walls over standard drywall. Improve the quality of life for building inhabitants by using low or no- VOC materials whenever possible. Programs and Tactics for Relocatable Walls In support of the Environmental Protection Agency hierarchy for managing solid waste, we are reviewing all plans and procedures to best comply with the mandate to: Manufacturing and Production Reduce Reuse Recycle Compost Incinerate Landfill Our production site for full height relocatable partitions is establishing programs to reduce waste and return greater amounts into recycled materials. Incoming materials are sourced from locations advantageous to our sites. Many materials are provided direct from vendor s trucks into our plants without supplier packaging. Not only does this reduce waste, it saves time in inventory, money in freight and vendor delivery costs. Vendors and vendor suppliers are questioned annually regarding recycled content and programs to support recycling. Recyclable materials are pursued for new part developments and compatibility with current vendors and processes. Recycled content and material compliance with product requirements are measured during development to maximize recycled content without compromise to quality. All cut or trimmed materials are kept separated for recycling. The simple nature of the primary components supports the process to save and return waste products back to the vendors and their suppliers. Aluminum, fabrics, vinyl, PVC and board materials are saved for sampling, testing or recycling. 6

LCA Methodology The LCA for this product declaration was completed in December 2015 using the principles contained in the international standard ISO14040 Environmental management Life cycle assessment Principles and framework. A cradle- to- grave approach has been applied. The system boundaries include all significant life cycle stages: Manufacture including extraction of all raw materials (such as bauxite), processing of raw materials into input materials (such as aluminum), transport of materials to the Environamics fabrication facility. Transport transport of fabricated walls to the point of installation/use. Use in line with product category rules, no impacts from use are included. The environmental impacts of the use phase are assumed to be negligible. This is because the product is a low- maintenance product that requires no energy inputs or significant maintenance. No data is available on any customer activities such as window cleaning, but the impacts of this are likely to be too low to be significant. End- of- life recycling and disposal to US norms, including transport of the product from the site of installation to the site of waste management and recycling and disposal of components at end of life. The functional unit considered in the study is 1 square meter of wall. This represents 1 square meter of average wall: in reality individual walls may vary, such as containing more or less glass, or different finishes, depending on customer requirements. However the wall data used for this EPD is an accurate average because it is based on the entire annual production of 2014, including all materials used to produce all wall types. No sampling or assumptions were used to model the wall: the extensive data provided in spreadsheet form to Intertek by Environamics contained complete data for the entire 2014 annual production of the Charlotte facility. The latest LCA software and existing LCI data available in December 2015 were used to carry out the LCA. SimaPro LCA software was used, with Ecoinvent 3.1 data. US specific data was used wherever possible. For example electricity use at the Charlotte facility was modeled using 2013 Southeastern USA electricity data. LCI Impact Assessment was carried out using the US TRACI 2.1 method as recommended in product category rule. 7.
