1 Posting Request INTRODUCTION Purpose This form is used to post vacant positions. Description of Form Notes on This Form There are 26 steps on this form. There is not a tracking number on this form. However, as each posted position will have an individual position number, this will be the means of tracking. Previous Form 1489 (for the Posting Process) Completion Details This form is to be completed by department level staff. This form requires approval from the Office of the Provost, or the Classification and Compensation Department prior to submission. Data Sources The S/C/D requesting this position Where to Send This Form Step #1: S/C/D If this is posting is to fill a vacancy with no changes to the existing position it should be sent directly to Employment Services. If there are suggested changes to the title, duties or qualifications it should be sent to Classification and Compensation for approval prior to sending it to Employment Services. If it is a newly created position, initially, it should be sent to the Budget office along with the New Position Request form. It should then be sent to Classification and Compensation before being sent to Employment Services. The New Position Request form does not need to be sent to Employment Services along with the Posting Request form. Description The WSU school/college/division to which the employee's department belongs. Data Source This information is located in the S/C/D code table in the Crosswalk/Job Aid. Example FPM School/College/Division Step #2: Department Description The Home department code associated with this job. Example H4906 Department Page 1 of 5

2 Steps #3-4: Position & Suffix Description Position number and suffix for the job being posted. Notes The suffix is generally 00. Step #5: Position class code Description A code that represents the employee's classification. Data Source Position Class Codes table in the Crosswalk/Job Aid. Example SK1601 Position Classification Step #6: Position class title Description The specific name given to this position. Data Source Use the corresponding title for the position class code. Example Carpenter Step #7: Desired start date Description This is the date that the unit wants the employee to start in this position. Example 07/01/2002 Desired Start Date Notes The date should be entered in MM/DD/YYYY format. Step #8: Category Description Select the appropriate category for the position being requested. Data Source This can be determined by the first character of the position number. Indicated in Classification check boxes, however, not as precisely. Step #9: Status Description Check all selections that apply. There can be more than one per position. Page 2 of 5

3 Step #10: Type Description Select whether this is a new or old (already existing) position. Step #11: Appointment % Description The percentage of full-time hours this employee normally works in order to calculate the pay on this assignment. Example 100 Percent Step #12: Year Description Select whether this is an academic year or a 12-month schedule. Step #13: Tenure track Description Select whether the position is authorized for tenure or tenure track. Tenure Track check box field Step #14: Check list attached Description Check "Yes" if a checklist of duties and responsibilities designed by the WSU Classification and Compensation Department is attached. If one exists, it must be attached. Otherwise, check "No". Page 3 of 5

4 Step #15: Position duties and responsibilities Description To be filled in for non-hay classified positions only. List the duties and responsibilities the employee would have to perform pertaining to this position. Example To teach an introductory history class Position Duties & Responsibilities Step #16: Minimum qualifications Description To be filled in for non-hay classified positions only. List the minimum qualifications necessary to be eligible for consideration of this position. Example A PhD in history Minimum Qualifications Step #17: Comments Description Include any additional comments relevant to this form in this field. Comments Step #18: Deadline Description Select whether the application period for this position will conform to a set deadline, or whether it will remain open until the position is filled as allowed by union contract.
