Petrofac Training Services is part of the Petrofac Group, a major player in the oil & gas industry. Our unique perspective is the reason we don t just provide customers an off-the-shelf programme as a matter of course. We make sure that however we train your personnel and in whichever technical discipline it s the most appropriate and fit-forpurpose solution for your organisation. Conducting a training needs analysis allows us to identify the most suitable solution. We ll discuss with you how many personnel require training, at what level and over what timescale; the practical skills and any accreditations required; and the means of assessment. All training begins with a baseline assessment to establish the starting level of competence. We repeat this post-training to verify levels of competence achieved. We train technicians at every level from school leavers and graduates entering the workplace to established personnel in need of upskilling. Although we can deliver short course training such as the five-day Permit to Work course most of our customers engage us on a long-term, project-driven basis. Instrumentation and Control Training in the latest technology is covered for those technicians who regulate and maintain oil & gas related flow, level, pressure and temperature measurement systems and who are additionally responsible for electronic and pneumatic process control and safety systems. Process Operations Our training ranges from one-day courses to structured graduate programmes lasting several years. We can provide basic training, which gives a general awareness, or development programmes that enable technicians to achieve a competent standard in the minimum period of time. Key competencies are learned and developed through a combination of theoretical learning, classroom based and hands on practical workshop training exercises. Mechanical We offer the full range of mechanical training, from basic introductory courses to advanced centrifugal pump and compressor courses on turbines. Mechanical training is typically provided to technicians who would normally maintain valves, pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic transmission systems and are responsible for prime mover machinery, such as high capacity diesel engines and gas turbines. Electrical Electrical training for technicians responsible for the maintenance of high voltage power generation and distribution systems is delivered through a comprehensive range of specially developed learning events. The training is also aimed at any technicians in charge of motors, control systems and other electrical equipment specifically designed for use in demanding onshore and offshore environments. Construction Skills We have the capability and experience of delivering a range of Construction Skills related training. This includes the disciplines of welding, pipefitting, fabrication and steel erection, scaffolding, rigging and lifting operations, crane operations, fork lift truck as well as driver training for mobile earth moving plant. Our training caters for both Control Room and Process Operations areas. Training is aimed at technicians responsible for maintaining safe operations and achieving production targets. We have co-managed the CPTC since 2008, as part of a joint venture with the Singapore Government. BP Azerbaijan We designed, built and equipped Caspian Technical Training Centre (CTTC) in Baku, Azerbaijan on behalf of BP and its partners. We work closely with our long term joint venture partner TTE International Limited to manage and operate the centre, signing a new five-year contract to do so in CPTC operates a hydrocarbon process plant solely for training purposes. Delegates gain invaluable hands-on experience as a result. Our range of competence based operations and maintenance training covers shift rotation, permit to work with task risk assessments, start-up and shutdown exercises, and emergency response and fire drill exercises. Facilities available at the CPTC include: Live process plant equipped with distillation system, chemical laboratory and control room Flowserve laboratory with various cutaway pumps and pump training rigs, plus separate classroom Yokagawa laboratory with mini process simulator and DCS, plus various instrumentation and test equipment Safe System of Work training suite with process skid and extensive safety training equipment Major emergency management training simulator Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic In January 2012, we signed a five-year contract to operate and manage the new Construction & Drilling Training Centre at Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic, Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The centre aims to support the drive for the Saudization of technical workers within petroleum services. Our wide range of courses allows local personnel to be trained to internationally accredited standards. Courses we deliver at the centre include: Drilling and workover training in all related disciplines, including well control programmes Construction Skills rigging, scaffolding, welding, fabrication, pipe-fitting and heavy equipment operations HSE training ranging from loss protection to internationally accredited courses Basic and technical English language training As well as supporting the management of the centre, we deliver competence based, hands-on training, to locally recruited Azerbaijani national technicians. Our programmes are designed to embed a safe working culture and English language skills while accelerating technical competence via experiential learning in world class training facilities. CTTC offers: Training for 400 operations and drilling technicians each year 750 training modules devised especially for BP Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Process Operations training with integrated safety and technical English language modules A unique industry scale three phase operations training plant on which to learn skills in a safe environment A multi-million dollar experiential learning simulator with which to train drillers bound for Caspian Sea platforms Specialised industry kit and workshop, plus 30 classrooms BP supports lifelong development opportunities, so CTTC caters to experienced personnel wishing to further develop their skills as well as new entrants. A wide range of internationally accredited courses are available to those wanting to enhance existing knowledge and competence in the latest technological developments. Safety Petroleum Development Oman Between 2006 and 2010, We were tasked with training around 190 Petroleum Development Oman personnel set to work on a new high pressure and sour oil & gas field. The technical training was required to meet UK NVQ levels and cover the Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Process disciplines, plus HSE, Simulation, Telecommunications and Soft Skills. We first developed the required materials to deliver an NVQ systems and competence programme underpinned by behavioural safety training. We then managed this training globally, providing: NVQ3 level training at our Chemical Process Technology Centre, Singapore Team working development at our UK training facilities NVQ2 level training, also in the UK Soft skills training in Muscat, Oman The nature of the new oil field also required all 190 personnel to receive essential pre-commissioning training and breathing apparatus training, making it a unique training project for us
