COURSE OUTLINE: The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety provides a broad understanding of the general health and safety issues that affect all types of organisations and enables risks to be managed effectively. As well as covering a range of workplace hazards and methods of control, it includes reference to international standards relating to the management of health and safety at work. The NEBOSH International General Certificate provides a valuable overview and is a sound basis for further professional study, such as the NEBOSH International Diploma, Construction Certificate and Fire Certificate. This highly recommended course consists of two, one week study periods: Units IGC1 and GC2. Unit IGC1 Management of International Health and Safety Unit GC2 Controlling Workplace Hazards Unit GC3 Health and Safety Practical Application The qualification is divided into three assessed units, each of which is assessed separately. Assessment is by two written examinations (one for each of the Units IGC1 and GC2) and a work-based practical examination (Unit GC3). COURSE OUTLINE: The NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is a highly regarded qualification for aspiring health and safety professionals. It builds on topics covered in the NEBOSH International General Certificate. Delegates who work for organisations in all industry sectors and who are seeking a global career in managing health and safety risk will find the qualification particularly useful. This popular course consists of three units plus a written assignment: Unit IA Managing Health and Safety Unit IB Hazardous Substances and Agents Unit IC Workplace and Work Equipment Safety Unit ID Application of Health and Safety in the Workplace The assessment consists of three written examinations of three hours duration (one for each of the Units IA, IB and IC) and a workbased written assignment (Unit ID). All units must be completed within five years to achieve the full NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. Unit IA 10 days study + recommend 2 day exam tutorial + exam. INTERNATIONAL TECHNICAL CERTIFICATE IN OIL AND GAS OPERATIONAL SAFETY A specialist qualification for people in the oil and gas industry who are responsible for ensuring safety as part of their day to day duties. COURSE OUTLINE: This course focuses on international standards and management systems, enabling students to effectively discharge workplace safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore. COURSE OUTLINE: The course consists of units HSW1 and HSW2 and covers a range of topics including: Health and safety foundations Work equipment Electrical safety Risk assessment Manual handling Fire safety Assessment is by one multiple choice examination (Unit HSW1) and a work-based risk assessment (Unit HSW2), which tests the ability to apply the knowledge gained during the course to workplace situations. Examinations take place at the end of the course and the risk assessment is completed shortly afterwards. 3 days study + exams. The NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award is an international qualification, so the multiple choice assessment is available by prior arrangement in English, Arabic, Mandarin and Russian. ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AT WORK AWARD A popular introductory qualification that provides a basic understanding of environmental issues in the workplace. Understanding of the course material is evaluated by means of a multiple choice assessment and hazard spotting exercises. The course is delivered over one day in an interactive classroom environment. 9 In-Company Classroom Courses IAS COURSES OUR APPROVED IAS AUDIT COURSES ISO Internal Environmental Auditor OHSAS Auditor/Lead Auditor Audit Skills Training The International Accreditation Society (ias) was established in 1998 as a non-profit exam board with the brief to set standards for the delivery of health and safety training for individuals in the workplace. ACT has been providing ias qualifications for over 15 years in a range of areas including health and safety auditing, legionella and stress management. OHSAS AUDITOR/LEAD AUDITOR Those required to act as Lead Auditor in an organisation which is implementing or has implemented a BS OHSAS occupational health and safety management system. OUTLINE: Leading an audit team requires special skills over and above those expected of an internal auditor. The lead auditor will have responsibility for planning the audit, taking the lead in the opening and closing meeting, coordinating the activities of the team and delivering the report. Additionally, the lead auditor is expected to establish the composition of the audit team, determining required competencies in the light of the risks faced. Learning is assessed by continuous assessment and end of course written assessments: Paper 1 Audit principles and Paper 2 Conducting audits to OHSAS days ISO INTERNAL ENVIRONMENTAL AUDITOR Environmental representatives and those responsible for carrying out internal audits for Environmental Management Systems, including ISO 14001:2015. OUTLINE: This course provides a more in depth alternative to the Environmental Awareness course including more practical elements. The course: Sets out the key elements of environmental legislation and the practical tasks associated with environmental auditing Provides an introduction to environmental management using formal audited systems Includes video, syndicate exercises and handouts. Practical audits can be arranged. Learning is assessed by an end of course written assessment and a practical audit to be carried out at your own workplace. 2 days AUDIT SKILLS TRAINING Those responsible for monitoring the health and safety policy and conducting internal compliance audits. Excellent practical audit skills course for those trained to OHSAS 18001, QSA, ISRS. OUTLINE: This accredited course is recognised as being the foremost, independent, assessed audit skills training scheme. Auditor s should gain this qualification to ensure the effectiveness of their organisation s audits. The course will demonstrate: The professional method of preparing and carrying out health and safety audits of your own policy Interview techniques Verification/sampling methods How to create reports with action recommendations Learning is assessed by an end of course written assessment, comprising of a range of multi-format questions and various tasks relating to the audit process. 3 days 9

10 In-Company Classroom Courses OTHER COURSES CITB are the Sector Skills Council and Industry Training Board for the construction industry, working to deliver a safe, professional and fully qualified construction workforce. SITE MANAGERS SAFETY TRAINING SCHEME Project managers, site managers and site supervisors as well as proprietors of small to medium sized companies. OUTLINE: Covers the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Regulations relevant to the Construction Industry (and other workplaces). Will include site set-up, CDM, risk assessment, method statements, scaffolding, electricity, excavations, demolition and confined spaces. At the end of the course, each individual has to pass a written assessment and make a presentation of a suitable health and safety solution to a site activity, the certificates are valid for five years. 5 days SITE SUPERVISORS SAFETY TRAINING SCHEME Team leaders, foremen, gangers, first line managers and supervisors with supervisory responsibilities and a need to understand their legal duties. OUTLINE: Ensures that candidates have an overview and understanding of their responsibility for supervising and helping to oversee safety in a construction site environment. Each individual has to pass a multiple choice and practical interaction assessment, set during and at the end of the course. Certificates are valid for five years. Our goal is to work with clients to establish effective solutions. To achieve this, we tailor courses from many examining bodies or develop our own bespoke training packages. Tailored or developed courses enable the inclusion of material that makes the learning relevant to the organisation and to the student. The assessment is purely online and consists of 15 multiple choice questions.
