Routine quality control testing Outsourcing proves to be a cost-effective option for many organisations and here at Butterworth we provide flexible, tailored and innovative solutions. Contracts can be strategic and long-term. Butterworth provides Quality Control (QC) testing service for a wide variety of industries. Our staff can follow client in-house methods, work according to internationally published standards or use methods that have been developed by Butterworth to meet specific requirements. A speciality of the Company is the testing of raw materials for manufacturers to ensure that they meet the labelled specification. Testing of this type involves setting up and qualifying instruments for one-off sample batches which can be time-consuming and inefficient for QC laboratories that are dedicated to testing finished products. Project work A significant proportion of our work relates to non-routine testing, termed Projects, and includes method development, method validation, method verification, cleaning validations, independent arbitration, insurance claims and patent litigation. The Company has extensive experience of developing and validating methods for the assaying of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), stability indicating procedures for related substances and excipient contents in line with regulatory guidelines for the pharmaceutical industry. As regulatory authorities become ever more vigilant regarding the use of pharmacopoeial methods, Butterworth are being more frequently requested to perform verification of these methods before undertaking routine QC testing of samples. As members of the UK Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Compliance Programme, Butterworth is also in the ideal position to undertake work associated with health and environmental safety studies that will be submitted to regulatory authorities for the purposes of risk assessment.
