1 Columbus Action Plan Task Force: Education and Labor Force Development Issue/Problem: Need more ESL classes to solve language barrier Goal: Remove language barriers to labor force success Action Step 1: Responsibilities: Central Community College and Platte Valley Literacy Association Timeline: Available: Space, teachers, funding Parents struggle to come to classes because of lack of childcare. Students struggle to come to classes because they work long hours and seed support from their employers. There is some racial discrimination in the community. Hispanics contribute to the workforce Become leaders in the community. Help others. Hispanics able to enter secondary education. Reduces racial conflict in the community.
