4 Focus Gather information about yourself! What do you really want to do? Satisfaction depends partly on performing tasks that you enjoy. It involves using the skills and the knowledge that you enjoy using and that you are motivated to use. When you do what you like or what interests your, you are more likely to be successful, and that leads to greater satisfaction. You need to know what type of people you would enjoy working with, and what type of people and working conditions you might find intolerable.

You will need to research the world-of-work and develop an awareness of what s going on in that world. You need to focus on knowing who you are by conducting a careful self-assessment of your skills and interests. You will need to develop and implement an effective job search strategy, do it correctly and avoid mistakes. You need to look good in person, on the phone and on paper.
7 Computer and Information Technology Occupations Employment of computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow 12 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. These occupations are expected to add about 488,500 new jobs, from about 3.9 million jobs to about 4.4 million jobs from 2014 to 2024
8 10 skills employers say they seek, in order of importance NACE (National Association of Colleges &Employers) Survey Though the sample is small NACE collected responses from 200 employers the wisdom is sound. New and recent graduates should pay attention.

10 10 skills employers say they seek, in order of importance No matter what you have studied you need to have the top five skills 1. Ability to work in a team 2. Ability to make decisions and solve problems (tie) 3. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work 4. Ability to communicate verbally with people inside and outside an organization 5. Ability to obtain and process information The trick is to demonstrate that you have those skills through your cover letter, resume and interview. The Forbes survey makes clear that employers want universal skills you can learn across academic disciplines & in any job where you are working with others.
