Assessment methods include: Hours Worked (15%), Journal Reflections (5%), Accountability (15%), Supervisor Quizzes (7.5%), Certifications (7.5%), Personality Profiles (15%), Mentoring & Evaluation (15%), Alumni Outreach (15%), Leadership in Action (15%). Each activity has an assessment tool attached to it, graded into three categories: Proficient, Emerging, Developing; as outlined on each activity s description. The assessment tools are in the pages following the session description page. 3 Intramural Sports Head Supervisor - Leadership & Teamwork Leadership Seminar Session Description: This presentation will explore the top leadership characteristics collected from respected leaders and visionaries in their respective fields. Intramural Head Supervisors will build their leadership toolbox as we explore the meaning of these top leadership characteristics. This topical discussion will focus on the importance of each of the characteristics and how to utilize and apply each of them in their role as an Intramural Head Supervisor. Learning Objectives: Through successful completion of the seminar the student employees will comprehend essential leadership characteristics and the characteristics that apply to their position with Intramural Sports. o Assessment Procedure: Intramural Head Supervisors will capture pictures of leadership as displayed by the Intramural Sports Staff including Sports Officials and Intramural Supervisors. Each picture should relate to the Leadership Seminars attended with the Division of Recreational Sports Leadership Staff, Intramural Head Supervisors, and Intramural Supervisors. All pictures collected are required to include a description of what leadership characteristics are being displayed and its importance and/or relevance to his/her position as an Intramural Head Supervisor. 4 Leadership in Action Due date: Tuesday, September 24 th Purdue University Embedded Learning Outcome: Leadership and Teamwork Purdue University Definition: Leadership and Teamwork are interpersonal skills and behaviors under the control of individuals and team members (effort they put into team tasks, their manner of interacting with others on team, and the quantity and quality of contributions they make to organizational and team discussions). The leader is one who practices management as a trainable skill with technical and administrative aspects which serve to direct people for the good of the enterprise. Leadership is the art and science of getting the job done through the willing efforts of others. 5 Personality Profiles Session Description: This presentation will provide the results of personality profiles and the make-up of the Intramural Supervisor Staff. Breakout and group discussions will be utilized to understand each personality type and their characteristics. Learning Objectives Intramural Head Supervisors will be able to identify different personality characteristics; understand the different personality types amongst colleagues; develop strategies to facilitate teamwork and improve effectiveness in motivation, and provide guidance and support of team members. o Assessment Method Intramural Head Supervisors will be assessed on their completion of their personality profile and contributions to bi-weekly group discussions. Intramural Head Supervisors will be presented with a case study in a mid-semester staff meeting to test their comprehension on the staff s different personalities and the strategies to provide each individual feedback. Personality Profiles Proficient Emerging Developing Completion Quickly identifies the employee s personality profile and key personality characteristics. Understands the employee s work styles and how to best motivate, provide feedback, and how they make decisions.
