So training that could help you start, manage, operate and develop a business is presented in this leaflet by educational institutions which are active in The Centre de formation professionnelle de la Baie-James has been active in the James Bay territory since Located in Chibougamau, the Centre also has two points of service which are in Lebel-sur-Quévillon and Matagami respectively. Since its very beginning, the Centre de formation professionnelle has been delivering a variety of programs of study in several fields, such as mining, forestry, construction, mechanics, health and administration. Specifically in entrepreneurship, the Centre is offering several training opportunities for starting, managing, operating and developing a business. Also, to enhance the skills of entrepreneurs and their staff, a few customized or advanced training programs are made available by the Service aux entreprises et aux individus de la Baie-James according to the schedule and the content established with the client(s) during an assessment meeting with our professionals.

3 The Sabtuan Adult Education Services (SAES) is a division of the Cree School Board. SAES provides a wide range of high-quality, community-based, educational and training opportunities for adults living in the Eeyou Istchee territory. Our goal is to promote and stimulate the social and professional integration of the adult population in our territory by offering programs and services that will increase their skills, expertise and qualifications. By doing so, each of our students is ready to step in the labor market with the right tools and confidence. We respect the Cree s values and traditions in each and every aspect of our work. Our Customized Training Services, now offered since 2012, provide a range of quality training solutions in English, French and Cree to upgrade employee skills and boost workplace productivity. Our services has over thirty years of experience in training and education and are tailored to individuals, businesses, community and regional entities and organizations represented in the Cree nation. For nearly 35 years, the Centre d études collégiales à Chibougamau and the Service aux entreprises et aux collectivités have been offering quality services to communities in the Nord-du-Québec region. Our mandate : welcoming, training, supporting, it is first and foremost about connecting with people, communities and businesses that convey an interest in knowing, doing and being. Customized support, the use of local driving forces and varied expertise, the search for complementarity between our actions and the socio-economic players and social equity are the values and principles guiding us in achieving it. This is reflected in our different training programs in the fields of administration and office automation, humanities and human techniques, science and engineering. Our support services are tailored to better meet the expectations of businesses, organizations and individuals being served. Over one thousand people have obtained a diploma or an attestation of collegial studies, including several individuals who are known entrepreneurs in the region. From its implementation in Abitibi- Témiscamingue in the fall of 1970, the Université du Québec s mission has been to offer its services throughout the territory of Abitibi, Témiscamingue and Nord-du-Québec. The Chibougamau and Chapais communities thus have been benefiting from the UQAT s presence for nearly 30 years. So far, several hundred people have taken courses and completed a program in this region, which includes more than 150 locally trained university graduates. The use of the classroom equipment through video conference is simple and makes it possible to bring together small groups of students from several towns. The Centre de Chibougamau helps to maintain an active presence in the territory and to take part in the development of education and research in the region with its programs adapted to the realities of the environment. Some training programs are also offered in different Aboriginal communities according to the needs determined by the people who live there.

ADMINISTRATION (CERTIFICAT 4122) This certificate is offered to a diversified clientele. Its goal is to train practitioners in the field of management. The certificate provides basic management training based on an organization s overall approach. It makes it possible to approach management in a systematic manner from a scientific perspective to facilitate informed decision-making. Distance-education offered. COMPTABILITÉ (DEP 5231) Learn the bulk of accounting-related tasks, including the implementation of the accounting system, production of payroll, cash management, accounts payable and receivable, production of charts and graphs, and business correspondence FR Must have earned the Secondary 4 units. Can be offered in classrooms or on line. CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (5809) This program is ideal for entrepreneurs in the field of construction who are looking to build their project management, basic accounting, and basic human resources skills. The program also develops participants ability to read drawings and specifications, build a business development plan, manage health and safety and understand Quebec s building codes. 450 Must hold a Secondary School Diploma (SSD) or must practice an occupation related to the program of study. STARTING AND MANAGING A TOURISM BUSINESS (AEC LCA.75) This attestation of collegial studies aims at developing the entrepreneurial potential in the field of tourism. You will learn among other things how to: develop your communication, negotiation and sales skills; plan a business project in compliance with the legislation; plan marketing initiatives; define the human resources management, produce financial reporting; write a business plan FR EN Must hold an SSD, have relevant experience, be able to communicate and have basic knowledge in administration. Offered in classrooms. ÉTUDES AUTOCHTONES (CERTIFICAT 4554) The goal of this program aimed at a diversified clientele is to meet the participant s personal and professional needs by helping them to develop knowledge and skills in First Nations-related understanding, intercultural communication and interventions while being aware of the key issues and current concerns in the Aboriginal world. The certificate in Aboriginal studies is thus aimed at both First Nations people who want to perfect their knowledge of their culture, history and development, and non-natives who intervene, wish to intervene in the community or simply desire to know more about it. This program is aimed at any individual who is interested in the human resources within organizations, the nature of work,

GESTION DES RESSOURCES HUMAINES (CERTIFICAT 4209) This program is aimed at any individual who is interested in the human resources within organizations, the nature of work, as well as the individual and collective relations in the workplace. Its goal is to give the students an opportunity to acquire basic training in human resources management by covering three fields or areas of activity: human resources management functions, activities and service, work relations and occupational health and safety. Offered in classrooms. LANCEMENT D UNE ENTREPRISE (ASP) Carry out your business plan. Learn the necessary concepts for working as an entrepreneur, including the concepts related to human resources management, operations, marketing, procurement and financial analysis. 330 FR Must have a business project. Can be offered in classrooms or on line. SANTÉ ET SÉCURITÉ AU TRAVAIL (CERTIFICAT 4253) This program is aimed at individuals who are interested in occupational health and safety and who are already involved in the community. Its goal is to give an opportunity to the students to broaden theirs skills in this field in order to acquire basic knowledge in occupational health, develop a preventive approach to occupational health and safety, as well as develop intervention attitudes and skills enabling individual and collective empowerment to eliminate the risks inherent in the work environment. Distance-education offered. SCIENCES COMPTABLES (CERTIFICAT 4138) The goal of this program is to help the student to acquire basic knowledge in the field of accounting. It also aims at enabling the students to use accounting data that are crucial to the administration of a business and to get involved in the development of the key components of an accounting system. SERVICE À LA CLIENTÈLE (AEP) Improve your customer satisfaction by building customer loyalty and expanding your customer base. 540 FR Must have earned the Secondary 3 units and be 18 years of age. STARTING A BUSINESS (AVS 5764) Carry out your business plan. Learn the necessary concepts for working as an entrepreneur, including the concepts related to human resources management, operations, marketing, procurement and financial analysis. 330 Must have a business project. Available throughout TECHNIQUES DE COMPTABILITÉ ET DE GESTION (DEC) The goal of this three-year technical program is to train individuals who are required to work in every sector of the economy, in businesses or organizations of varying sizes. Training is conducted in a highly computerized environment. In the last academic session, students design a business plan and complete their training with a four-week work placement in a business FR SSD or DVS and mathematics 4TS or 4SN or 436. // CUSTOMIZED AND ADVANCED TRAINING ENGLISH BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED Using simulations and contextualization, converse in English while reviewing grammar rules. The records 14 FR EN CULTURAL COMPETENCY A uniquely Cree program building cultural competency through awareness and knowledge of the Cree, their historical background, their customs and identity, language and communication styles. Especially pertinent to employers wishing to improve communication, promote greater participation in community life, improve productivity, and strengthen relationships in the workplace. 16 USING SOCIAL MEDIA FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Social media marketing has become very important, if not a must. Therefore, it is now important to review the various available platforms and to choose the proper one according to the message and the target market. Training will address the general marketing principles, then present the various available platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) so the participants can optimize their use of these media. 15 FR EN BUSINESS PLAN DEVELOPMENT Developing and using one s own business network to expand its possibilities and find new opportunities. 28 FR EN ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR THE WORKPLACE Essentials skills are those used in nearly every job at various levels of complexity so that people can grow in their jobs and adapt to workplace changes. According to Employment and Social Development Canada, there are nine essential skills required in the workplace: reading, document use, writing, numeracy, oral communication, thinking, digital technology (originally, computer use), working with others and continuous learning. VARIES PERSONNEL APPRAISAL This training takes a step further in the thinking about what is really at stake with the results of the assessment, that is the technical and human behaviours that exhibit the skills and attitudes, namely the state of mind demonstrating what motivates the individual. 15 FR EN FRENCH LANGUAGE FOR THE WORKPLACE, BEGINNER LEVEL Participants experience a program customized to their language proficiency levels. Knowing my target market better. 8. Selling properly and better! 9. Being seen and known by my potential customers.10. A smart entrepreneur is an alert entrepreneur! 11. I stock up wisely (as a manufacturer, as a retailer). 12. Being a winner the first year! BETWEEN 3 AND 9 PER WORSHOP FR EN Workshops are elective and can be offered in classrooms or on line. PERSONNEL RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION Identifying the needs of the organization, internal and external recruiting, selection of employees, interview questions, integrating a new employee. 15 FR EN SOCIAL MEDIA, INTERNET Participants stay abreast of popular marketing and promotional trends in the Cree territory, while learning the essentials for safely navigating the Internet. Technical know-how is further developed by building computer skills knowledge. VARIES USE OF VARIOUS SOFTWARE PROGRAMS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF BUSINESS ACTIVITIES Learn how to use the basic and advanced features of the word processing software Word. Learn how to use the basic and intermediary features of the electronic spreadsheet Excel. Learn how to develop and manage databases with the Access software.
