17 BASIC OF GOOD SEAMANSHIP Experience Seamanship is about hard working, rough sea and stormy weather, learning by doing and not least lessons learned - and to share experience with other. Judgment Seamanship is about the constant use of good judgment in fast decision-making: About the vessel's capability, ships around you, sea state, currents, water depth, weather, and the host of other large and small decisions necessary during any operation or voyage at sea. Anticipation Seamanship is about anticipation, the ability to anticipate every contingency at sea: The choice of routes while taking into account the weather and seasons, charting the right course and safe navigation; the preparation of method statement and risk assessment; and redundancy of plans, equipment and systems - always having an alternative solution. Intuition Seamanship is much about intuition and instinct, daring to trust intuition and to have a high degree of situational awareness - and not rely on facts, which cannot be confirmed through other independent sources. Ingenuity Seamanship involves ingenuity - knowing what to do, never be indecisive but always determined to achieve a solution. Humbleness Seamanship is about respect for the sea and the weather, finding a way to utilize the great power of the ocean for own purposes to travel from place to place, to carry out an operation, to help fellows in distress - sometimes, just to survive. Page 17

18 We would like to ask all colleagues to follow the following rules HLS CODE OF ETHICS All people should be treated equally, irrespective of there skin colour and religion. A non-violent relationship. Protect the environment. Corruption-free behaviour. Always stay with the truth. Treat foreign property with utmost care. Do not enrich yourself with foreign property. Keep promises. Respect other opinions. Page 18
