2 This Certificate IV in Human Resources qualification is suitable for individuals working in a range of human resources (HR) management positions. Job roles could include human resources assistants, human resources coordinators and human resources administrators. Career Opportunities This qualification gives you the skills needed to work in a range of support positions in human resources management. In smaller companies you may work across all human resources functional areas and in larger companies you may be assigned responsibilities in such areas as remuneration, workforce planning or human resources information systems. Typical titles for people working in HR are: Human Resources Officer and Human Resources Assistant. The Certificate IV in Human Resources is suitable for: People who work in or have an interest in working in human resources management People who wish to study Human Resources Management at Diploma and/or Advanced Diploma level (and thereafter in the Bachelor of Business at the University of Tasmania) People who wish to supplement administrative or operational skills with an understanding of human resources management understanding and compliance requirements Entry requirements While there are no pre-requisites, it is preferred that students have one of the following: a) A relevant Certificate III level qualification b) Relevant vocational experience in business operations. You need to have the capacity to undertake training and research to work in a range of support positions in human resources management. A Suitability Assessment will be undertaken by participants to ensure each person has the basic skills required to succeed in this course. If you need to improve these skills, we will recommend suitable training to undertake prior to commencing this Certificate. Outcome BSB41015 Certificate IV in Human Resources. Pathways from the qualification A relevant Diploma or other Certificate IV qualification. Course duration This course can take up 24 months to complete, studying part-time. Online study means you need to set your time and study goals to meet the requirements of enrolment. 3 Competency based training Business, Management and Finance Certificate IV in Human Resources is offered under the Business Services Training Package and is competency-based meaning the ability to perform something to an agreed standard. Learning and assessment involves completion of activities, assignments and knowledge activities. If you are not currently employed in Human Resources, you should consider accessing work placement opportunities in this area to further enhance your skill level. Enrolment The enrolment process with TasTAFE requires the completion of several forms. This includes a career pathway plan and training subsidy form. You are also required to provide proof of identity and evidence of concession if applicable The enrolment process will also include participating in a Literacy Language (reading) & Numeracy Skill Indicator Assessment (Suitability Assessment). This requirement is designed to ensure you are able to access the most appropriate study and learning pathway to achieve your qualification goals To enroll with TasTAFE, you must have a USI (Unique Student Identifier). The Australian Government requires all students to hold a unique student identifier (USI). Visit to create your USI. Once enrolled, you will be provided with a Username and Password which will enable you to access online course work materials. This process can take up to 48 hours Fees for 2018 Fees are paid on a qualification basis rather than for the individual units that comprise qualifications. Fees for the Certificate IV in Human Resources qualification are $1,086 for non-entitled students. Note: fees are not available for entitled students in Students who satisfy the following conditions are eligible for the entitled fee: Australian or New Zealand citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or hold a state sponsored visa on a pathway to permanent residence, and Must reside in Tasmania, and Be of working age (16 65), and Have not completed a Certificate III qualification or higher in the past 5 years Students who are eligible for the entitled fee are required to complete a Training Subsidy Information Form at time of enrolment. Students may also be eligible for a concession fee if: Receiving a Centrelink allowance such as Newstart, Youth Allowance, Disability Support Pension, Pension, Austudy or Abstudy Listed on a current Centrelink Card as a dependent Have a current Heath Care Card Concession fees are not available to students who are on a registered contract of training. Students claiming a concession must provide evidence of eligibility at the time of enrolment. BSB41015 Certificate IV in Human Resources Page 3 of 10
4 Important information in relation to fees: Concession fee cap does not apply to or include fees for resources used Upfront payment can be made by EFTPOS, credit card, cash or cheque Alternative payment options by instalment plans can also be accessed. Fee sponsorship may be applicable for fee payment through agreement with an approved fee sponsor, such as a Job Network Agency A refund of fees paid is available if you withdraw from the course prior to the advised Census date Further information on fee payment eligibility and options can be discussed with your enrolling teacher. Instructions are provided below). A personal address and A reliable internet connection You may wish to use a TasTAFE regional campus for study purposes if this suits your situation. Daytime flexible learning environments with individual access to computers are available within the TasTAFE regional Libraries. Catapult elearning access: provides an online learning and assessment model for students studying online. When you enrol and pay for the online course you will be ed your access username and password. OR (optional) SmallPrint Publications provide workbook learning and assessment work books for students who prefer to learn by using text books. Online Learning Online learning involves you allocating time to study, rather than turning up to a physical class. Establishing a study pattern is important to successfully completing online study. Set yourself a study time and treat this like a class. A positive attitude to making that time happen will provide you with the greatest chance for success. Learning support is provided throughout the online course with a teacher available to assist you reaching your learning goals. Any questions you have can be answered either through a phone call or by . However, because you have chosen to study online, you are expected to show independence in your learning. Your teacher is available to provide advice, but ultimately you are the one who needs to make time to complete your goals. Activities will have deadlines for completion and it is your responsibility to ensure you meet these deadlines. TasTAFE also offers on-campus courses if you would prefer a more structured study option. If you demonstrate that you are not committed to your online study, you will be contacted to discuss your options, but without evidence of activity, you may be withdrawn from the course. Work Presentation Presentation of work should meet workplace standards. This means that work is to be word-processed, proof-read and formatted in a professional manner. Work involving the completion of forms and/or including calculations should be accurate and completed according to instructions. It is important to ensure correct grammatical structure of sentences and paragraphs. Assessment information Assessment will be included within the course, but may require some additional work to meet the evidence requirements of the unit. For example, if you are not currently working in a Human Resource role, a voluntary work placement in this field will provide evidence of you applying skills in a workplace context.
