Relevance to the Property Industry For those working in the property industry in New South Wales, there are reforms proposed for implementation in 2018, which will require those people wanting to be a Licensee-In-Charge (that is run your own agency or for many who work as commission-only agents), to hold a qualification in the business management sector. The Diploma of Leadership and Management will meet this requirement. So not only would this qualification provide you with essential skills and knowledge for business management and staff management, it will give you the regulatory requirement for the proposed licensing reforms. Importance of Leadership and Management Skills In today s work environment, whether you work in an office, a trade or retail, the need for superior communication skills is essential. With much business being conducted online, it is crucial that all employees have a good understanding of their role and are supported by their managers and supervisors. This means that supervisors must have leadership skills that will enhance the productivity of the team and support people in their day-to-day work functions. Leadership is an important function of management which helps to maximise efficiency and to achieve the goals of any organisation. Following are some of the core values that are addressed in the Diploma program. 1. Initiating action 2. Motivation 3. Guidance 4. Creating confidence 5. Building morale 6. Managing the work environment 7. Co-ordinating organisational goals 5
