2 Contents Page Introduction Safety Safety Decal Specifications Stability Ratings Installation Operation Leveler Operation Operating Tips Maintenance Storage Introduction We want you to be completely satisfied with your new product, so feel free to contact your local Authorized Service Dealer for help with service, genuine replacement parts, or other information you may require. Whenever you contact your Authorized Service Dealer or the factory, always know the model and serial numbers of your product. These numbers will help the Service Dealer or Service Representative provide exact information about your specific product. You will find the model and serial number on a plate located to the left on the back of the leveler. For your convenience, write the product model and serial numbers in the space below. Model No: Serial No. The warning system in this manual identifies potential hazards and has special safety messages that help you and others avoid personal injury, even death. DANGER, WARNING and CAUTION are signal words used to identify the level of hazard. However, regardless of the hazard, be extremely careful. DANGER signals an extreme hazard that will cause serious injury or death if the recommended precautions are not followed. WARNING signals a hazard that may cause serious injury or death if the recommended precautions are not followed. CAUTION signals a hazard that may cause minor or moderate injury if the recommended precautions are not followed. Two other words are also used to highlight information. Important calls attention to special mechanical information and Note emphasizes general information worthy of special attention. The left and right side of the machine is determined by sitting on the seat in the normal operator s position. Safety Improper use or maintenance by the operator or owner can result in injury. To reduce the potential for injury, comply with these safety instructions and those in the traction unit operator s manual. Always pay attention to the safety alert symbol, which means CAUTION, WARNING, or DANGER personal safety instruction. Failure to comply with the instruction may result in personal injury or death. DANGER There may be buried power, gas, and/or telephone lines in the work area. Shock or explosion may occur. Have the property or work area marked for buried lines and don t dig in marked areas. DANGER There may be overhead power lines in the area. Shock may occur if a power line is touched by a tree or other object that is being transported. Survey and mark the area where there are overhead power lines, and do not transport trees or tall objects under the power lines by The Toro Company 8111 Lyndale Avenue South loomington, MN Contact us at All Rights Reserved Printed in the USA
3 WARNING When the engine is off, attachments in the raised position can gradually lower. Someone nearby may be pinned or injured by the attachment as it lowers. Always lower the attachment lift each time you shut off the traction unit. CAUTION If the leveler is not kept level while lifting, the load could be inadvertently dumped on the operator. The operator could be injured when the load is dumped. When lifting the leveler, tilt it forward to keep it level and prevent it from spilling backwards. WARNING When going up or down hill, the machine could overturn if the heavy end is toward the downhill side. Someone may be pinned or seriously injured by the machine if it overturns. Operate up and down slopes with the heavy end of the machine uphill. An empty leveler will make the rear end heavy and a loaded leveler will make the front end heavy. Safety Decal 1 1. Machine rollover exceeding rated load capacity can cause instability # Figure 1 2. Read operator s manual 3. Maximum load capacity 2 3 WARNING Standing on or riding on the leveler can be dangerous. The rider may fall or be injured by the moving machine. Do not allow anyone to stand on the leveler or to ride it in any way. CAUTION If you step off of the platform with the load raised, the machine could tip forward. Someone nearby may be pinned or injured. Lower the leveler before stepping off of the platform. 3
4 Specifications Note: Specifications and design are subject to change without notice. Overall width Overall length Overall height Weight 49.0 inches (124 cm) 36.0 inches (91 cm) 16.0 inches (41 cm) 170 lbs (77 Kg) Stability Ratings To determine the degree of slope you can traverse with the leveler installed on a traction unit, find the stability rating for the hill position you want to travel in the appropriate table on the following page, then find the degree of slope for the same rating and hill position in the Stability Data section of the traction unit operator s manual. The leveler may be used when loaded or unloaded and with or without the counterweight on the traction unit. The following tables reflect the differences in stability of these various conditions. WARNING Exceeding the maximum slope can cause the traction unit to tip. If the traction unit tips, you or bystanders could be crushed. Do not drive the the traction unit on a slope steeper that the maximum slope. 4

6 Installation Refer to your traction unit Operator s Manual for complete instructions on installing attachments onto the traction unit and connecting hydraulic hoses. Operation Leveler Operation When leveling the ground, angle the leveler slightly to keep the forward edge higher than the rear edge. Therefore, when driving the traction unit forward, the edge farthest from the traction unit should be higher; when driving in reverse, the edge closest to the traction unit should be higher. Operating Tips The leveler can be used to haul container grown trees, shrubs, and other bulky materials. Position a load as close to the rear of the leveler as possible to maximize lifting capability. When transporting a load, keep the leveler as close to the ground as possible. Never attempt to lift more than the rated lift capacity of the traction unit. Maintenance Storage 1. efore long term storage, wash the attachment with mild detergent and water to remove dirt and grime from the entire attachment. 2. Paint all scratched or bare metal surfaces. Paint is available from your Authorized Service Dealer. 3. Store the attachment in a clean, dry garage or storage area. Cover it to protect it and keep it clean. 6
