Top News First Lithoman IV 96p with RIMA-SYSTEM Post Press! Weiss-Druck, one of the leading printers in Germany, has invested in the first 96p Lithoman S press to be installed at their plant in Monschau. With a possible output of 4.32 million pages/hour they will push into an area of productivity which was the domain of rotogravure plants up to now. Equipped with two folders, the press will offer a multitude of different products. To be able to handle this flexibility and the massive volume of paper in the Post Press area, Weiss-Druck decided for completely automated stacking lines and palletizing robots from RIMA-SYSTEM. Three stacking lines, consisting of RS 36S indexing stackers, RS 120 high-speed blocking units and three modern RS 400 four-axis robots guarantee the safe handling of the copies to the finished pallet. The integrated robot software PALETTI9 ensures the exact processing of all order data and helps to minimize overproduction: the productivity increases. Already in the past Weiss-Druck was a user of RIMA-SYSTEM Post Press technology and was able to fully optimize his new and existing installations with investments in RS 400 palletizing robots. With the latest installation Weiss-Druck is going to be the biggest user of RIMA-SYSTEM 4-axis robots worldwide.. He specializes in schoolbook and testbook printing where he can offer a very good price-performance ratio. Having recently moved his printing plant into new premises he is set for future expansion, already aiming on the next big market in Istanbul. The latest installation behind a GOSS Community press consists of heavy-duty conveying and a modern ST 420 vertical log stacker. Ertem is one of the many users of vertical log stackers from Civiemme-System in the area, favouring these machines because of their rugged, strong design, the great accessibility and easy handling. Two more presses are already equipped with similar machines and are running strong for years. At Ertem, the new Goss Community has been equipped with a ST 420 log stacker. A machine which is already well known by the customer and which he was completely happy with. Eclipse Colour, UK After having already good experience with a RIMA-SYSTEM trimming & stacking line in their plant, Eclipse was seriously considering our equipment behind their new M600 press. The new line should include a log stacker. After visiting several reference installations (and being genuinely surprised that logs could look that good!) the customer was convinced that the RS 610 horizontal log stacker with a PL86 CIVIEMME-SYSTEM log palletizer was the perfect machine for him. Beginning of March the installation was running full production the logs (from DP to A3) looked as impressive as the customer remembered! The M600 has been equipped with a complete trimming & stacking line and an RS 610 log stacker and palletizer.

Having been already a user of vertical log stacking technology, they were convinced by the many advantages of the fully automatic ST 8000 from CIVIEMME-SYSTEM.

The customer was especially fond of the possibility to integrate two strapping units into the machine: even if one of the strapping units would jam the machine would not stop.

3 3 POST PRESS NEWS - 04/2011 GGP Media, Pössnick, Germany GGP in Germany has installed a brand new ST 8000 with PL 86 log palletizer from CIVIEMME-SYSTEM behind their Lithoman IV press. As one of the leading book printers in Germany their focus lies on signatures for the bindery, especially DP production. Having been already a user of vertical log stacking technology, they were convinced by the many advantages of the fully automatic ST 8000 from CIVIEMME-SYSTEM. It combines the traditional values of open accessible design and easy operation with modern features like motorized pre-setting and job storage. The customer was especially fond of the possibility to integrate two strapping units into the machine: even if one of the strapping units would jam the machine would not stop. The logs would be strapped by the second unit! The ST 8000 is the top model of the CIVIEMME-SYSTEM log stacker range. Great accessibility and perfect log quality even at highest speed and with high volumes are the top arguments for this fully automatic machine. And of course it has this small extra to top it off: a twin strapping unit! Hansaprint, Finnland After great support and service for many years and having only good experience with RIMA-SYSTEM equipment, Hansaprint replaced the existing MM Post Press behind their KBA 215 press with our latest stacking & palletizing technology. The Ultracompact design of the layout and great testimonials from other printers in Scandinavia convinced Hansaprint to go for their 5 th robot installation! Complete Solution - trimming, stacking, RS 400 robot and including the integration of an existing log stacker.

Installation and start-up at Hansaprint went very smoothly. The customer was especially happy with the performance of the compensating stacker. Not only was it handling all products at very high speed (even with small bundles) but it was also working very well with low paginations / low grammage products (2p A3/A4 well below 50gsm!). Magnograf, Mexico After Transcontinental with the S3000 installation in Mexico City also Magnograf in Puebla decided to make the jump into high speed and high pagination printing and invested in a S4000 press. Like at Transcontintal, Magnograf will also have a robot at the end of the line in order to automate the manual pile down. While Transcontinental equipped the press with two RS 610 log stacker coupled with the robot Magnograf decided for two log stackers with palletizers and for a trimming and stacking line in order to also serve the retail market. Installation will start in April Fully equipped Sunday S 4000 press: 2 x RS 610 log stacker with log palletizers and automatic pallet conveying. The retail market is served by a trimming & stacking line with palletizing robot.

It has been implemented in different environments and applications, ranging from a 16p heatset press up to high volume newspaper presses and also in many different bindery applications where it helped to eliminate the tiring, repetitive and hard manual downpiling of stacks. However, putting stacks onto pallets is not the only work where people have to lift heavy stacks all day long. In many bookbinderies stacks have to be put back from pallets onto special feeding lines for finishing jobs, e.g. inserting lines with film wrapping and ZIP-code routing. The latest development of the PALETTI system in combination with a special robot configuration allows de-palletize, means to automatically take perfect bound bundles from a pallet and put them back on a finishing line. The pallets can come from any palletizer; the robot takes them all. The robot safely picks up the bundles from the pallet. Sensors make sure that no products get damaged. Tireless and without complaints the robot places one bundle after the other on the accumulation line.
