2 Web Press KBA rotogravure press TR10B, 144 pages with two folders Product Mix Finished productions and signatures for the bookbindery in formats A5, A4 and A3 Post Press Configuration The Post Press system consists of floor and overhead conveyors, two RS 840 double stream trimmers, a total of four RS 3610 stackers with RS 110 blocking units and strapping machines, two RS 600 log stackers as well as two RS 400 palletizing robots for stacks and logs. All productions of the two folders of the rotogravure press can be directed trimmed to the stackers or untrimmed to the log stackers. Each production line is completely backed up by a second production line. Furthermore, the flexible divert gate system allows for production of both folders to be directed to multiple destinations within the system. This versatile Post Press system can accommodate up to 256 different production possibilities in this application. The combination of a high degree of intelligent automation and numerous backup possibilities allows to operate the complex system with minimized personnel. 5 The press is equipped with two identical folders, each with four deliveries. A stream separator divides the production in the case of double production into two shingled streams. The production can be directed to every part of the installation by a flexible divert gate system. Untrimmed production can be transported directly to the log stackers, while press-finished products can be redirected to the RS 840 trimming lines for a three-side-trim Project Schlott 5

6 Stacks and logs from two stacker lines and one log stacker are handled by one RS 400 palletizing robot. The RS 36 indexing stackers guarantee an excellent stack quality due to their indexing upper bins, modern servo-technology and intelligent ejection-system. This allows shortest robot cycle times with loose or strapped bundles Project Schlott 6

7 The RS 36 stackers eject the bundles into direct-coupled RS 110 blocking units which then compress and electrostatically charge the stacks. The stacks can also be strapped before they are transported to the pick-up stations of the palletizing robot Project Schlott 7

8 The RS 400 palletizing robot is equipped with a double A4 gripper and smoothly puts the stacks onto the pallet at maximum speed. With PALETTI, the innovative graphical control interface, it is very simple to create, save and recall packing patterns. This ensures an excellent pallet quality and stability even with difficult (slippery or stitched) production. Overhead conveyors transport the untrimmed production directly to the infeeds of the RS 600 log stackers. The infeeds are equipped with divert gates, long stream aligners and individually adjustable double squeeze rollers Project Schlott 8

9 An easily accessible log building area, the central endboard magazine, a graphical touch-screen panel, and the innovative strapping unit are only a few of the RS 600 s intelligent features. Equipped with servo-technology the RS 600 offers superior log quality even at highest speeds Project Schlott 9

10 The RS 400 palletizing robot picks up logs or stacks according to production requirements. The change of the gripper tool is initiated via the graphical control interface PALETTI and takes less than a minute. With PALETTI, it is simple to create, save and recall packing patterns. A detailed logbook, which contains all important status information, can be used for remote diagnostics and maintenance from authorized RIMA-SYSTEM technicians Project Schlott 10
