2 Interstates are critical for freight movement Route Selection Comparison Interstate Highway Balance of NHS Other Highways All trucks 49% 26% 25% Freight-hauling trucks serving places at least 50 miles apart 75% 20% 60%
3 During an extended interstate closure: 1. Determine if the truck traffic adhered to the State DOT designated detour routes. 2. Compare the detour routes in regard to driver costs, vehicle costs, time, and distance. 3. Quantify the impacts to regional freight movements. 4. Determine if regional truck route selection changed over the four month closure of Interstate 29.
4 Snowpack in Northern Rockies was 212% above normal One year s worth of rain fell in the Upper Missouri Basin during the last two weeks of May Water released from Gavins Point Dam on June 25, 2011 exceeded twice the previous record and did not decrease until July 31, 2011, but still above normal outflow The flooding of the Missouri River was the longest duration flood event in U.S. history.
