2 Note from the Director December The holiday season is officially upon us and another year is winding down. No matter what your favorite thing is about this time of year, we can all agree it is a magical season. One in which we can relax and spend time with loved ones. While we all hope to find that perfect gift for everyone on our list there is always a few that are challenging. For these individuals or just for fun what could be better than one of our fabulous Holiday tickets - $1 Merry Money, $2 Warm Winter Winnings, $3 Naughty or Nice Crossword, $5 Happy Holidays, $10 Holiday Dazzle, and the $15 Peng-Win Countdown. So many options so little time! This is a great time to take a look back at the year and remember the good things that have come our way. What are you thankful for this year? Here at the Lottery we are thankful for our fantastic retailers and our loyal players. We know that without you the past 30 years would not have been possible. Yes, that's correct, the Lottery is turning 30 in 2018! Stay tuned to find out the different ways we will be celebrating throughout the coming year. Cindy Polzin Lottery Director SECURITY Wisconsin Lottery SECURITY CORNER Report Theft Immediately! Despite all of the security measures, theft is going to occur. When thieves are successful at making off with instant tickets, you need to act quickly so stolen tickets can be disabled. All too often reports of stolen tickets come in the next day, sometimes hours after the time of the theft. Most thieves are attempting to cash the tickets in the first hour or two, so timely reporting is important and in most cases will only take a few minutes. When reporting ticket theft it is important to have as much information as possible. Retailers should know game, pack, and ticket numbers of the stolen tickets when reporting a theft so that tickets are accurately marked. Please be sure your employees are aware of the requirements and the importance to not only notify the police, but to call the number on the yellow sticker on the terminal (Lottery Hotline) to report the tickets as stolen as quickly as possible. 3 December BP Express Kenosha LLC nd Ave Kenosha, WI Mahendra Patel -Manager (left) Ketan Patel - Owner (Right) This month we travel to the southeast corner of the state to the city of Kenosha in Kenosha County on the Illinois border. It's the fourth largest city in Wisconsin and also the fourth largest city on Lake Michigan. It's close enough to the greater Chicagoland area that the U.S. Census Bureau includes Kenosha in the Chicago Combined Statistical Area (CSA). Located a few blocks from Lake Michigan is our Retailer of the Month, BP Express Kenosha. It's on a bustling street between three colleges; UW Parkside, Carthage and Gateway Technical. The high volume of traffic in the area translates to lots of traffic at the family owned BP Express. Owner Ketan Patel and his Father/Manager Mahendra Patel have been in business at this location for 12 years. It is not unusual for them to have Lottery players from Illinois visiting the store. The Patels stay on top of their Lottery business, particularly with the scratch tickets, which account for seventy percent of their Lottery sales. Their many regular players appreciate the attention to detail along with the fact that they carry all scratch ticket price points. The hottest tickets so far this year have been $1,000 Bankroll and $1,000 Richer with three $1,000 winners from each game. A Badger 5 winning ticket was also sold here in Next time you're in Kenosha, stop by the BP Express on 22nd Avenue and check out their great Lottery display! Kenosha is located on Hwy 94, in the south-eastern part of WI.

4 Celebrating Mega Winners December Kenosha Resident Claims $1 Million Powerball Ticket! Ruth Rodriguez of Kenosha is the lucky winner of $1 million from the October 18 Powerball drawing. The winning Powerball numbers from the Wednesday, October 18 drawing were 30, 49, 54, 66 and 69 with a Powerball of 8. The Power Play number was 2. Rodriguez matched five out of five numbers, but not the Powerball. Rodriguez purchased her ticket at the Speedway on 3012 Washington Road in Kenosha. Speedway earned a $20,000 winning ticket incentive for selling the lucky ticket. Middleton Woman Claims $250,000 5 Card Cash Ticket Karen Czerwinski of Middleton is the lucky winner who won $250,000 from the Wednesday, October 25, 5 Card Cash drawing. Czerwinski purchased her ticket at Kwik Trip at 5301 South Ridge Way in Middleton. The winning ticket matched all five cards to win the top prize. Wednesday's winning 5 Card Cash card symbols were the 4 of Hearts, 8 of Clubs, 10 of Clubs, King of Spades and 5 of Hearts. Kwik Trip earned a $5,000 incentive for selling the winning ticket. Karen caught the attention of the local news station in the Madison area because of her good luck! Earlier this year she won $24,000 playing Badger 5. She has won $1000 a couple of times, along with some hundred dollar wins. "WIN is in my name", says Czerwinski. She is a cashier at a PDQ in Middleton and only buys her tickets after her shift.
