3 let's get started This guide is a handy reference to support your first few days and weeks as a Designer. Take time right away to do the following: Have a chat with your Sponsoring Designer. Make sure they understand your goals, include you in Team communications, share our quick-start program (Designer Debut), and help you organize your launch event using the items in your starter kit. Take a tour of your Designer Office. It all happens here! Ordering products, tracking commissions and more. One of the first things to do is to add your business address this ensures you re included in our online Designer Locator for customers. Also check your billing and credit card info for timely processing of your monthly subscription (and remember, your first month is FREE!). To log in to your Designer Office today, visit: myoffice.chalkcouture.com. You ll be prompted to enter the and password you created when you enrolled as a Designer. Join our Designer Studio Facebook group! If you re on Facebook, search for Chalk Couture Designer Studio and request to be added to the group. Visit often to read breaking news from Chalk Central, meet other Designers, and share ideas with our community. It s a great place to get inspiration and answers! 4 C A R E E R P L A N As a Designer, you are entitled to receive commissions and bonuses on sales to your customers and sales made by your Team, as more fully described below. Designers have a unique opportunity to be rewarded for sharing something they love while empowering others with a creative outlet and a way to beautify their space. Earn through personal sales. The foundational method for every Designer to earn compensation at Chalk Couture is through personally selling our gorgeous line of exclusive products. When you buy products at wholesale, direct from the company, and sell at the manufacturer s advertised price (retail price), you can instantly earn up to 40% commissions one of the most generous plans in the industry! This pricing is offered on orders placed in your Designer Office. You pay for the product up front, then earn your commission when you resell the product to customers through your Chalk Shop and collect their payment.this commission is termed instant commission because you recoup it immediately at the time of sale. You may also sell to customers on your Chalk Site (your custom e-commerce website). Because these orders are managed and fulfilled by the company and all inventory is managed by the home office, these orders have a commission rate of 25%. This commission is called deferred commission because the customer pays retail price online, then your 25% commission is paid after the close of the month, typically by the 15th of the following month. ORDER TYPE COMMISSION PAID Wholesale (Chalk Shop) 40% Instant Commissions (earned when sold) Online (Chalk Site) 25% Deferred Commissions (paid by the 15th of the next month) Savvy Seller Bonus While all Designers receive generous instant or deferred commissions for personal sales, Chalk Couture offers an extra bonus to our strongest sellers. It s called the Savvy Seller Bonus and it is paid on the PV (Personal Volume, typically 60% of retail price) of your personal sales when you have at least $2,000PV in a month. The percentage for which you qualify is based on your total PV for the current month, which includes your wholesale orders placed in your Designer Office as well as customer orders placed on your Chalk Site. When your PV is between 2,000 and 3,999 during any given calendar month, you receive a Savvy Seller Bonus of 10% on your monthly PV. When your PV is 4,000 or more in the month, you receive a Savvy Seller Bonus of 20% on your monthly PV. The Savvy Seller Bonus is earned based on the total PV you earn in a month. Note that there are some items that do not earn PV, such as business materials or the Starter Kit. These products do not qualify for PV and will not be included in the Savvy Seller Bonus. This bonus will be paid as part of your deferred commissions, by the 15th of following month. 5 Designer Dollars We want to reward you for working your business, so for every $200PV you generate per month, you will earn $20 in Designer Dollars (DD)! Designer Dollars are product credit to help you further support your business. You can use them to fund Hostess Rewards, Team incentives, or even gifts for expo giveaways, to name a few. This bonus will be paid monthly, with your deferred commissions, by the 15th of the following month. Designer Dollars are paid via a single voucher for the entire amount of Designer Dollars earned in the month (and must be redeemed in a single transaction; no balance may be carried forward.) Designer Debut In addition to the core of our Career Plan, we offer a quick start program available to new Designers only that s you! It s a great way to earn Designer Dollars product credit you can spend on Paste, Transfers, or any other product you d like to help jumpstart your thriving business. Transfers are designed for an average of 8-12 uses, which may be reduced or extended based on proper cleaning, type of surface applied to, and care in handling. Tips for prepping the Chalk Transfer Cut the design down into its individual parts, if applicable. If using on glass, hard, or glossy surface, or a non Chalk Couture chalkboard, you will need to press the Transfer to some sort of fabric (such as a terry cloth towel) to get a little fuzz on the back of the Transfer, then adhere to the surface. This prevents the Transfer from bonding too strongly to the surface. This is very important to teach your customers! CHALK TIP: Never peel Transfer diagonally which can case stretching, but from the side or top/bottom only. Cleaning and storing Chalk Transfers After peeling the Transfer away from the project surface, rinse off Chalkology Paste or Couture Ink immediately. This can be done in the sink or in a cookie sheet (which works well with larger Transfers and helps ensure the Transfer won t stick to itself by accident). After all visible Paste is washed off, wipe both sides with a disinfecting wipe to remove any Paste residue. Lay the Transfer, sticky side up to dry. Once the Transfer is dry, replace it on the backer (on the shiny side) and smooth it out using a Squeegee.

6 Chalkology Paste and Use Chalkology Paste is a water-soluble crafting paste that goes on wet, dries hard and washes off of nonporous surfaces with water. If used on natural wood that is not painted, there may be residue that cannot be removed. Use Paste with our Chalk Transfers to give a beautiful, unique design each time. Once it is dry it will not smear or smudge and has a durable yet smooth finish. It can be layered, glittered (while it s wet) and even written on once it is dry. Chalkology Paste has a one year shelf life unopened, and a six month shelf life after it s been opened. If Chalkology Paste has thickened, add a small amount of water and stir well. Do not freeze. Clean the rim after use to ensure the lid can be tightened completely for best storage results. Paste doesn t adhere well to plastics. Waxing these surfaces before application may help, but working with plastics is not recommended. Apply Chalkology Paste with a Chalk Couture Squeegee. Spread a liberal amount over the entire design. Once the design is covered completely scrape the excess Chalkology Paste off the Chalk Transfer and put it back into the container. The more excess you remove, the better results you will have. Do not let the Chalkology Paste dry on the Chalk Transfer. Make sure to peel the Chalk Transfer away from the surface before it dries. You can use damp paper towels to keep the Chalkology Paste moist if you are working on a larger project. Couture Ink and Use Couture Ink is a permanent ink recommended for application on fabric decor items and heat-resistant, smooth hard surfaces. It is also used with our Chalk Transfers. Use our Ink Mat to secure lightweight materials in place and protect any materials prone to bleed-through. Permanent Ink may stain work surfaces and Transfer screen. Do not freeze. Apply Couture Ink with a Chalk Couture Squeegee, spread a thin, even coat over a Chalk Transfer. Smooth Ink over all screened areas quickly, removing and washing Transfer immediately after application. Once completely dry, heat set design for four minutes each side to avoid bleeding and fading.
