The RAMSTRONG prject seeks t meet three basic needs. First, while VCU and the Greater Richmnd area ffer a plethra f resurces t prmte health, infrmatin abut these resurces is nt readily accessible, and especially nt accessible frm ne website r mbile app. RAMSTRONG aims t prvide an accessible means fr emplyees t learn abut and take advantage f these resurces. Secnd, while a grwing bdy f scientific literature indicates emplyer spnsred health prmtin prgrams increase jb satisfactin, prductivity, and retentin, these prgrams are nly effective if they are utilized. RAMSTRONG aims t increase their utilizatin by prmting awareness f their availability. Third, ur sciety invests a substantial sum f resurces t the care f thse suffering frm injury and illness and less t prmting ur health and well-being. The RAMSTRONG prject is mtivated by a visin f a sciety that invests significantly in the prmtin f wellness s as t reduce the incidence f injury and illness and t increase the prevalence f persnal and scial satisfactin at wrk and in life. Our mdel fr the RAMSTRONG app draws frm the public health cncept f the Wheel f Wellness, which specifies eight interrelated and interdependent dimensins f health: emtinal, envirnmental, financial, scial, spiritual, ccupatinal, physical, and intellectual. When a persn can demnstrate strength and well-being in each f these areas, they are mre prductive and receive greater satisfactin in life. Universities, including Princetn University, that have implemented similar website resurces and the Natinal Wellness Institute define wellness as an active prcess thrugh which peple becme aware f, and make chices tward, a mre successful existence. Our RAMSTRONG website and mbile app will prvide emplyees with an efficient, friendly means fr becming aware f campus and cmmunity resurces and making chices that actively cntribute t individual and cmmunity well-being in each f the eight dimensins. It is ur hpe that with the implementatin f this prject, VCU emplyees will have the resurces t take charge f their wellness in each dimensin and becme RAMSTRONG.
QUEST FOR DISTINCTION The RAMSTRONG prject supprts Theme I, Gal 2, as it cntributes t a health and well-being prmting culture that aids effrts t recruit and retrain great emplyees. It als supprts Theme II, Gal 2 by prviding access t evidence-based health prmting resurces whse utilizatin is prven t cntribute t human health and enhance the quality f life. Finally, the RAMSTRONG prject supprts Theme III, Gal 2, by engaging the cmmunity in a way that empwers members, in this case, VCU emplyees, t make chices t engage in activities that prmte their wn health and well-being, and in s ding make an impact that matters n the quality f life. PROJECT STRATEGIES The team was infrmed by and drawing elements frm the public health and scial wrk cncept f the Wheel f Wellness, Princetn University s UMatter Wellness Prgram, and the VCU Human Resurces Wrk/Life and Wellness website t develp cntent. Team Buzz Ring emplyed a VCU Arts student t help design the RAMSTRONG app brand, and they are wrking with the AltLab t create the RAMSTRONG mbile website. OUTCOMES The team develped several measures t ascertain the success f the RAMSTRONG mbile app. These gals include: 1. 500 site/app visits in Spring 2017 and 5000 in year ne. 2. 100 self-inventry dwnlads in Spring 2017 and 1000 in year ne Fall 2017- Spring 2018. 3. Survey indicating 25% f emplyees being aware f the RAMSTRONG mbile app by the end f spring 2017; 50% by the end f fall 2017; and 75% by the end f spring 2018. 4. Survey indicating that emplyees utilizing the RAMSTRONG app had a mre psitive view f wrk at VCU. The majr accmplishment f the RAMSTRONG mbile app fr the University will be t increase awareness and utilizatin f resurces that prmte the health and well-being f emplyees. Team Buzz Ring anticipates such increased awareness and utilizatin f these resurces will in turn make a difference in terms f verall jb satisfactin, prductivity, and retentin.
