The last date to meet the requirements is 31 December 2010. Purpose This certificate recognises the skills, knowledge, and attitudes required by people who have responsibility for the day to day running and management of resources on civil construction projects under the technical control of a project manager. It shares some unit standards with the National Certificate Civil Construction Works (Foreperson) with optional strands in Kerb and Channel, Concreting, High Capacity Highways, and Roading [Ref: 0208]. People credited with this qualification have an understanding of conditions of contract and of the principles of safety on civil construction sites. They are able to develop and control traffic management plans, prepare a schedule of quantities, organise the supply and use of resources to and on site, adapt the work programme for site conditions, provide basic first aid, and apply quality, field-sampling, and testing requirements. They are able to report on civil construction activities, liaise with clients, local authorities and the public, co-ordinate subcontractors, and supervise civil construction site activities including surveying and general earthworks. The optional strands recognise special skills in supervising demolition, drainage works, earthworks, high capacity highways, road construction, road maintenance, survey and set out, traffic, and training. If transferring, candidates will need to gain credit for the additional standards required. The last date for entry to training programmes or courses for this qualification is 31 December 2007. All InfraTrain New Zealand trainee agreements from 1 January 2001 will be based on agreements leading to the award of version 4.

However, all of the unit standards which were in version 3, or their replacements as detailed in the table below, are included in this version, with the exception of unit standard 6478. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for any of the expiring unit standards will be exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement unit standard(s). The credits for the qualification increased from 126 to 166. Version 2 of this qualification was issued to replace expired unit standards. Version 1 of this qualification replaced the Trade Certification Board s (TCB) Examinations for Civil Engineering Works Supervisors Certificates for: Practice Certificate, Senior Supervisor s Certificate, and Advanced Supervisor s Certificate. The Trade Certificates for Civil Engineering Works Supervisors (former qualifications) were phased out. Transition arrangements for the TCB qualifications expired in December 2002. and the industry will continue to recognise all versions of the qualification. It is the intention of that these transition arrangements are fair, and do not disadvantage any existing candidate.
