New Cleaning & Finishing Process for Food Contact Surfaces The ultimate solution for your Stainless Steel By
The SUBLIMOTION-process - Stainless steel used for food industries must comply with several requirements & guidelines - EHEDG (Ra < 0,8 µm) - NSF & 3-A Sanitation (Ra < 0,8 µm) - EN & ISO for hygiene requirement (EN 1672-2 & ISO 14159) -European directive for machinery (2006/42/EC) - High (hygiene) expectations of the customer - New developed surface treatment process, specialized for the treatment of stainless steel for Food Contact Surfaces - Process based on an aqueous suspension (water + inert micro particles)
The SUBLIMOTION-process Results after treatment: - Improved surface topography - Optimal corrosion resistance - Restrictive surface peening - Hydrophobic surface
Improved surface topography The SUBLIMOTION-process removes all kinds of contamination on stainless steel from weld discoloration, oil, greases, scratches,... resulting in an unique surface topography One step process

Optimal corrosion resistance Smoother stainless steel surfaces are less sensitive to corrosion After the SUBLIMOTION-process a new oxide skin arises by the self healing mechanism of passivation, restoring the optimal corrosion resistance of the stainless steel surface Sample Identification Surface conditioning after the salt spray test Weld condition after the salt spray test General condition after the salt spray test SUBLIMOTION unchanged unchanged unchanged Salt spray test according to ASTM A 967 Standard specification for chemical passivation treatment for stainless steel parts.
Arc height or deflection (µm) Restrictive surface peening The SUBLIMOTION-process has a specific peening intensity and coverage with a saturation point of 0,008 N in order to avoid (or to reduce) the risk of distortion and high residual tensile stresses in the core material of very thin stainless steel substrates 250 200 150 Fitted Curve Points Corrected Gage Data Points 100 50 0 0 0,5 1 1,5 2 2,5 3 Peening time (min) Almen Saturation Point Fitted Curve 193,06 µm = 0,0076 inch The intensity of peening is based on the specifications of U.S. Mil. Spec. adopted as an SAE standard, namely the SAE-AMS-S-13165 specification.
Hydrophobic surface -A hydrophobic surface has little or no tendency to absorb water - Lotus effect - Much easier / better cleanability of the stainless steel A B
Benefits of the SUBLIMOTION-process The process is capable of efficient cleaning and of achieving a very fine finishing - (Ra values < 0,6); The same values of surface roughness are generated in all directions resulting in an isotropic surface; A hydrophobic surface is created; The surface is continuously washed during processing; The process utilizes an inert cleaning suspension (slurry mixture) consisting of water and two specific products of mineral origin; Build-up of static charges are eliminated;
Benefits of the SUBLIMOTION-process Impregnation of hard abrasive particles into the surface is prevented, and there is no iron contamination of the treated stainless steel substrates (surgically clean); The risk of over-pickling is avoided; No special skills are required for the operator; It is a very cost effective process; The process is flexible and versatile; The process is safe, ecological and based on sustainable technology (Green process); There are no health or environmental issues and the process is completely dust free; The use of dangerous or toxic chemicals is avoided.
