What is ARENA is Sport Ireland s sector specific Arena? Leadership Development Programme. Its main aim is to foster excellent leadership in sports organisations funded by Sport Ireland. If you are looking to: develop the skills, acquire the knowledge and understand the behaviours needed to be an effective leader and build a professional leadership network within the sports sector then ARENA is for you! ARENA is specifically designed for: Chief Executives Senior Managers Individuals with a Large Span of Control who are employed in sports organisations funded by Sport Ireland.

The programme experience and key features: ARENA will be limited to a small group of participants to ensure an optimum learning experience. It will be highly experiential. ARENA will consist of 3 core modules, namely Responsibility, Relationships and Results. It will include the following elements: Leadership strengths based psychometric assessment Classroom based learning Off-site learning activities Leadership forums Networking opportunities and peer support Leadership strengths based executive coaching Online learning platform and support The programme modules: RESPONSIBILITY The Role of the Leader in Sporting Organisations The Challenge of Leading in Sport Professionalism, Ethics, Principles Credibility Leader Identity RELATIONSHIPS Leading Stakeholder Relationships Dealing with Conflict Negotiation Influencing and Persuading Building Trust Networking for Success RESULTS Direction: Vision, Mission, Strategy and Values Decision Making Motivation Leading High Performing Teams Leading in Difficult Situations

When will the programme run? The programme will commence in September 2017 and will run until December 2017. SEPTEMBER OCTOBER NOVEMBER DECEMBER Preparation Module 1: Responsibility Module 2: Relationships Module 2: Results Graduation What are they key dates? All programme activities will take place in Dublin based venues.
