POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION: POSITION REPORTS TO: Leading Hand Manufacturing Manager REPORTING POSITIONS: POSITION OBJECTIVES 1. To facilitate the efficient manufacture of a project, whilst constantly looking at methods or procedures to reduce cost and time required, but not compromising quality. 2. To ensure that all equipment leaving the workshop is made, finished and operating to the highest possible standard. 3. To liaise in a professional manner with the relevant parties, Project Management, Project Engineer, during the construction and/or commissioning of any equipment to achieve the best outcome for all involved parties and for the project and customer. 4. To plan, facilitate and supervise the work of the Team assigned to their area whilst encouraging a team environment by recognising the strengths of that team and using them to their advantage. 5. To be responsible for the results of their team. DELEGATED AUTHORITY To make decisions regarding manufacture in conjunction with the Manufacturing Manager. Purchasing of project related workshop consumables with approval of Manufacturing Manager as per Delegated Authority. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 1. Component Manufacture To lead the efficient manufacture of any given component. To plan work loadings, with respect to their team and required project outcomes To proactively monitor work loadings to achieve project milestones. On time target delivery with materials and time as per budget. Actual v Budget review. Production meets all quality standards. Evidence of efficient daily/weekly scheduling. To continuously improve productivity. Labour utilization % as specified. Effective use of equipment. Suggest improvement initiatives supported to eliminate inefficiencies and rework. Drive culture of continuous improvement and actively support initiatives to reduce production costs. To participate in consultations with project management, design, and operations. To carry out essential administrative tasks related to component manufacture. To proactively communicate any issues that may hinder the successful completion of a task. To constructively work with the other Leading Hands and to pass on appropriate knowledge and information. Constructive and timely participation with all necessary parties. Drawing release and update procedure followed. All administrative tasks completed on time and as required. Time cards are completed accurately and on time Manage assigned consumables stock. Immediately communicate issues as they arise to the Manufacturing Manager. Work with Leading Hands to Share knowledge and collectively problem solve. 2. Quality To instill into all of the staff a culture of quality workmanship. To ensure that all workshop equipment and tooling is maintained and in accordance with legislative requirements and in a safe, effective and efficient state. to be available for the task that they are intended. Quality documentation and reporting completed. Re-work reported and investigated, corrective actions verified with the Manufacturing Manager. Project Standards are met. All equipment is operable and available for the task that they are intended. All legislative requirements met. 3. People Management To ensure that all staff clearly understands their duties and responsibilities. All staff carry out their duties as required. Clear and consistent communication to staff. Provides direction and focus on targets. All staff are regularly informed of all targets Assists with setting goals, targets and ensures that these are achieved To actively performance manage Machining staff on a daily basis, with assistance from the Manufacturing Manager as required. To assist with regular Performance Reviews. To provide support and encouragement to staff. Mentors apprentices and encourages up skilling. To encourage senior (fitting) staff to develop their leadership skills within the workshop team. Assist the Manufacturing Manager so that all reviews are carried out comprehensively and on time. Staff receive support as needed. Health and Safety To follow and comply with all Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Ensure that all workplace accidents and/or near-misses are notified and documented. Set examples to your teams with regard to excellent Health and Safety practices. No breach of Policies or Procedures. Immediate notification and accurate documentation of accidents, incidents and near-misses. Maintain a high level of housekeeping. Contribute to and provide solutions for the control and management of identified hazards. Take an active participation in Health and Safety Committees and Projects. 5. General To follow and comply with all general Company Policies and Procedures. No breach of Policies or Procedures. To provide reports where requested. Clear, accurate reports provided on time. Travel Travel away from home (domestic or international) will be expected with consideration given to frequency of travel and exceptional personal circumstances that may exist. Where possible a minimum of two weeks notice will be given in advance of any required travel, with the intent being to have adequately defined the activity and limit the duration overseas to a maximum of 6 weeks at any one time.
