XS2 Use Case Smart Public Event Crowd Challenge Address Challenge Several annual music events in Breda attracts millions of people from across the Netherlands and Belgium. People spread in the small streets in the historic part of the city of Breda. For Breda, a town of less than 200.000 inhabitants, it introduces a public safety challenge for town hall and police The local government has asked XS2 to create an internal mobile app for the police and a web portal for the town hall to address the challenge. Request is to deliver a virtual crowd management solution using a scalable infrastructure. That is to say a system which enables it to analyze human traffic flows, to enable officials to take action in overcrowded situations and extrapolate useful data on visitors. Solution XS2 mobile app provides police officers insight on in the intensity and where the crowd is. This allows the police to take informative decisions to keep the large crowd under control and reduces the risk of human injuries. The town hall is capable of monitoring in real-time crowd movements across the historical centre of Breda and can guide people flows to available parking spaces or sending live notifications if locations are overcrowded.
