Project Over View The project involves roadway widening 4-6 lanes Lighting conduit placement ADA Compliance Bike lane construction Asphalt overbuild raising profile Tree Root pruning Signal upgrades Extensive drainage. Full replacment of curb and gutter. Gravity walls and unique L walls of varying heights. This is a mixed-use corridor, with both residential and commercial considerations. The fire station currently under construction at Rock Island Rd and Wiles Rd will not be directly impacted by operations.
Potential Issues Utility Relocations Utility relocation is a challenge in any project. The volume and variety of adjustments and relocations to be performed by maintaining agencies proves unique and will require a significant level of coordination between all parties. Of note are: 6 Gas Main (STA 242+90, 251+70, 253+00 and 263+50). 16 and 12 Water Mains requiring relocation throughout the project limits. We will rely upon our previous relationships with David Rivera and Max Chamorro (TECO) and Coral Springs Public Works Department to encourage them to relocate their lines and have the least impact upon construction. Buried fiberoptic French Drain located where it was not anticipated on east project. Potential Issues Lane Closures / Noise Ordinance A single lane closure will be allowed between 9:30PM and 7:30 AM. Noise ordinance (6:00 PM to 7:00 AM on weekdays, 6:00 PM to 9:00 AM weekends and holidays). Contractor to obtain a special permit allowing operations outside of the time constraints placed in the Coral Springs. Construction around Whispering Woods Development. This HOA is preparing to commence a resurfacing of the property. Property Manager, Mary Banmiller The roadway widening will impact the driveways Publix Plaza, 74 Ave, and multiple shopping centers. Must maintain access during roadway widening and driveway reconstruction at each affected entrance. The Whispering Woods Business Center - Completely dependent on accessibility from Wiles Rd.
Potential Issues Environmental The silt fence, inlet protection and outfall protection Special attention given to the 11-acre Whispering Woods Park containing wetland mitigation 13.9-acre Red Lichen Sanctuary Special care will be taken to ensure no runoffs will enter The Sanctuary during mast arm installation. Vacuum street sweeper at least twice a week or as directed by the Engineer. Cleanliness will be a topic of discussion during the regular progress meetings. Dust Control will be vital.
Public Coordination F&J will institute a proactive Public Involvement effort to ensure all motorist, businesses, and project stakeholders are kept informed of upcoming lane closures and changes in traffic patterns, if needed. Invite ALL stakeholders to our pre-construction conference. We will meet with the residents effected: Whispering Woods community Hidden Hammock/Butler Farms Careful coordination between the Contractor, the HCED and the property owners will be needed to ensure an issue free operation.\ Coordination with new fire station being built. Coordination with irrigation and landscaping with businesses and residents
Complete Streets Initiative Our team has extensive experience with not only the Complete Streets initiatives, but also with the road diet designs. Currently implementing Complete Streets initiatives: CEI services for Wiles Rd. from Rock Island Rd to SR7 CEI services for Pine Island Rd. from Nova Dr. to SR-84. We understand the importance of this initiative to make streets safe for all users.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS F&J Team is currently on the Wiles Rd. phase 1 from Rock Island Rd. to SR-7 project with RJ Behar (R1261804P1). Open communication and coordination between overlapping projects.
