Introduction made4you is a process modifying, activating and individually assembling a standard product in such a way that the implementation of customer specific project solutions is possible. For this purpose the sale organization concludes a customizing agreement with the production facility. For such projects the computer systems have to be individually customized to the customers demands already during the production. For which product made4you is offered? LIFEBOOK notebooks and tablet PCs FUTRO thin clients ESPRIMO PCs CELSIUS workstations PRIMERGY and ECONEL industrial standard servers made4you Services Hardware Services Hardware services cover the purchase, the qualification and the installation of customer specific components within the scope of larger installations. These components can be: LAN adapter, Boot Prom, graphic card, defined hard disk, audio card, etc. The installation of components of other product configurations which are not deallocated in the standard product configurator is also possible. Of course, components supplied by the partner or by the customer can be integrated. We also assemble individual packages with software, manuals and CD-ROMs according to the customers demands. Master key: The locks protect of unauthorized access to the PC. Only authorized employees, such as service engineers and system administrators, have a master key for opening the PC for extensions or replacing single components. Advantages: With our hardware services we realize customer specific solutions and do not trouble the customer with later converting costs at location. Additionally we optimize the security in terms of the unauthorized access on the system hardware. Software Services The installation of customer specific applications occurs via a master disk. All systems have the same software. The master disk can be prepared by the customer or by the solution provider. The bit image of the master disk is copied before the assembly of the computer in our factory. If necessary, the master disk can also be prepared by our specialists according to the customers specifications. We also use other operation systems, such as UNIX, OS/2 and Linux as well as additional tools and drivers. Our customers get ready-to-run systems. In this way you save money and time for single installation works. Special CMOS-Settings: The values of the BIOS variables are commonly understood by the term "CMOS settings". They play an important role in how the systems behave, and not only during the boot-up when the BIOS is active. We optimally customise the CMOS settings to our customers individual demands and therewith enable predefined passwords, individual boot sequences, etc. Furthermore we also help to customise the boot behaviour to our customers special requirements, if he wants to boot via LAN for consistent software across the whole network for example. Advantages: With the software services we help the customer to shortened installation times and to save costs at customer location. He gets ready-to-run systems. Individual customised CMOS setting - e. g. predefined passwords or individual defined boot sequences are no problem for us. Page 2 of 5
Add-on Services The attachment of customer specific inventory numbers on the PC is a made4you service simplifying our customers inventory. The labels including barcodes and numbering supplied by the customer are affixed ex factory. On request we generate an Excel sheet listing a composition with the serial numbers, MAC-addresses and inventory numbers. The MAC-address is the individual address of each PC without this the PC cannot be connected to the network. Normally it is determined via an ad hoc developed software tool. The exact Mac-address of each PC is read out during the production process and affixed on the cabinet and on the box. Additionally the MAC-address can be taken into the delivery note for additional support of the planning and the organization of a project rollout. The central administration and the inventory are easier, if we flash the customer inventory number into the BIOS. So the administration can read out all inventory numbers with the help of diverse tools. Customer logos: The logos supplied by the customers are affixed to the cabinet during the production. Optimization of the rollout: Directing the right PC to the right place the UUID is used. This one identifies a device worldwide uniquely. We print the UUID on the power rating plate of the PC, on the delivery note and on the packaging label on the box. On request we offer an Excel sheet listing all UUID assigned to the serial numbers of the PCs. Laser marking and print technology: With the help of our laser and print tools the attachment of individual customer logos on the front screen of the systems is possible. This is an interesting possibility communicating in sectors, such as the trade or the advertising. On customer request we deliver the PCs in a neutral packaging ex factory. So our products can smoothly be brought by our customers or partners as OEM products into market again. Naturally we also offer XXL-packages. With these XXL-packages the PCs are piled on pallets with underliners and then, they are packaged once only. The rollout is simplified by lower package and storage volume and our environment is treated with care. Box-in-box-package: On request, we will be able to put the several systems together with the additional ordered accessories in one sole covering box on demand. So the several components can be securely directed to the end customer, without the risk of getting lost. Also, depending on the handling of the customers' rollout, the administrative effort is drastically reduced by the cutback on just one package per system and accessories. Advantages: Add-on services simplify our customer the inventory, the maintenance as well as the installation and the integration of the PCs in large IT networks. An optimization of the rollout is reached thereby, that the company has all information at its disposal in terms of the hardware being in use shortly already at time of delivering. Further extras such as the attachment of customer specific information on the cabinet, the communication of advertising and the image via lasering and printing the systems as well as neutral packages and XXL-packages for reducing packaging and storage volume are also offered. With the box-in-box-packages the secure shipment to the end customer and, depending on the handling of his rollout, the reduction of the administrative effort is guaranteed. Page 3 of 5
Extended Component Lifetime Services The Extended Component Lifetime service includes the delivery of identical computers using the same components over a longer period. A together arranged rollout plan as well as a well coordinated component roadmap is worked out by all project partners. Hardware freezing: For maintaining the compatibility of all drivers with the components of a computer the model and release states of the hard disk, the CD-ROM drive and further components are fixed for a special period. Extended availability: Product innovation increasingly leads to model changes and shortened lifecycles of the components. Via our made4you offerings we guarantee for our products a lifecycle overlapping the one usual in the market. Our customer has the possibility ordering newly determined configurations according to an installation plan. Therewith the rollout becomes easier and much more efficient. Temporary storages and additional machining processes are not necessary. As the configuration of all computers is the same for a longer period, the drivers do not have to be changed on the master disk. The compatibility of all clients in complex company networks can be secured in that way. The same applies for the BIOS settings: We fix a BIOS release already tested and qualified by the customer. In that way we ensure the concordance of the BIOS version for the whole period of the project rollout. Therewith the functionality of critical applications can be guaranteed, too. A further service benefiting of our customers is, that we will notify them, if we change the BIOS for their main board variant in the standard. If they are running projects with frozen BIOS, we will not change it in these projects. However, our customer gets a summary about the upcoming changes and their reasons. Our customers then control the decision of whether or not to switch to the new BIOS version. Advantages: We ensure product continuity across an agreed period and therewith make the maintenance and the handling of large IT environments easier for our customer. Furthermore problems caused by incompatibility of hardware, software and diverse BIOS releases are prevented. Project demands and process 1. Demands in terms of project/customizing requirements, e.g. via the form Project Request, to your contact person or to Customer.projects@ts.fujitsu.com. 2. Costs for the customising basis configuration rely on the relative TCs for hardware and software. Customising services are calculated as TC Uplift per PC. Additional Project start-up costs are charged for all projects. (Set-up Fee per CUZ order code). 3. Presales Support and Project Management via a contact person in the made4you department. 4. Definition of the customising agreements inclusive all additional agreements for additional components and services. 5. Supply of all details in terms the operating system software, of the master disk and of the licence agreements (master disk checklist). 6. Coordination of this information for the generation of a final project agreement. 7. Written confirmation of the project agreement, handover of the Org ID (to calculate the Set-up Fee) and of the Siebel number by the purchaser. 8. Project start via workflow (2-3 days). 9. Order release for the order entry via the regional. 10. Coordination of the order processing sequence until to the delivery to the customer. 11. Project support over the whole project runtime. Contractual terms All services are calculated on the basis of the particular transfer costs (TCs). The product start-up costs are calculated for each project (Set-up-Fee). Quantity discounts are not granted. The customising basis configuration relies on the TCs of the hardware and the software. Customizing services are calculated as surcharge per PC (TC Uplift). The rule for all customer projects is: Delivery possibilities and subject to change without notice. Due to development cycles of single PC components becoming continuously shorter it is increasingly more difficult to hold up the manufacturer s specified technologies (release version, BIOS release, hardware status, drivers etc.) during a longer project period. The choice of the components is only possible up to the cancellation (code A ) of the particular component listing in the PC price list and the PC Architect. With A marked components can only be offered for a limited duration depending on the result of the material capacity. New projects with already cancelled components are not accepted until an availability check in terms of units/runtime via our lifecycle management division for a limited time period. In order to ensure the delivery availability during the whole project we need an accurate forecast in Siebel for an exact demand planning. Changes in terms of units/runtime have to be administrated on a project specific basis, because forecasted, still not affirmed units for a delivery cannot be offered after the end of the runtime. In order to secure the delivery of technically equivalent PCs for special projects the whole amount for the project has to be ordered and as single delivery lot produced and forwarded. The costs for possible intermediate storage (project store) are charged to the customer s account (TC-Uplift). Components supplied by the customer have to be delivered to the production place by the customer. Material and purchase costs for customer-provided components are included in the cost accounting. For the purchase of external components via our purchasing department in Augsburg additional qualification costs are generated. These ones are charged respectively. Delivery without operating system: PCs and notebooks are able to be offered with operating system or with other operating system. In the latter case the customer is obliged to purchase the particular licences legally. By master disks with additional software the customer is liable for the licensing of the applications on the master disk himself. Further details have to be seen in the hints in the price lists.
