OVERVIEW Reports to: Line Manager for: Holiday: Salary: Hours: Fixed term contract: Executive Director Box Office Manager, Front of House Manager, Press and Marketing Officer 26 days per annum 28,500 per annum This is a full time post of 35 hours per week. Regular hours will be 10am-6pm Monday-Friday but the nature of the job may require the postholder to work in excess of these hours and on non-standard work days from time to time. Overtime is not paid but time off in lieu will be given. 12 months (initially) About Little Angel Theatre Little Angel Theatre is a home for puppetry. CORE DUTIES The Role The Head of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the development and implementation of LAT s marketing, press and customer experience strategies to maximise ticket sales, develop audiences, leading the FOH and Box Office Manager in facilitating a first class customer experience to all visitors and raise the profile of the theatre in general. He/she will liaise with all other departments to ensure that all publicity opportunities are maximised and that a consistent public message is achieved across all areas of the organisation; manage the Press and Marketing Officer; and take a proactive and dynamic role as part of the Senior Management Team. Strategy and Campaigns Development Alongside the ED and Artistic Director, develop and implement LAT s responsive and evolving audience experience and marketing strategy - overseeing the smooth running of the entire customer journey. Develop, implement and manage Little Angel s generic, show specific and activity specific marketing and press campaigns Conduct regular assessments of the customer experience at LAT, producing new strategies and service improvements where necessary Ensure that external theatre companies are supported in promotion and facilitation of incoming productions Proactively support LAT s Enterprise strand of work to diversify revenue streams and increase income generation through effective and innovative use of the venue and artistic product. Marketing and Campaign Management Ensure that all promotional material produced by LAT is consistent in terms of look, feel and style to create a unified public image of the LAT brand Plan and lead the creation and distribution of marketing materials for both public and school audiences, including the season launch Liaise with Box Office Manager to plan on-sale dates, provide key show information and sales offers Undertake or oversee photography, print design and filming/film editing Liaise with the Head of Development regarding marketing materials for the membership scheme and other Development events Oversee Marketing Officer support of the touring programme of work where appropriate.
Press: Lead press engagement through writing and distributing press releases, organising press performances, proactively seeking opportunities for editorial and reviews online and in print, and liaising with press agencies on major events Ensure that all media content is collated in print, broadcast and online Digital Oversee and develop Little Angel s online marketing activities including our websites, social networking and blog Develop and oversee the implementation of digital campaigns to increase the visibility of our brand and productions. Develop digital marketing campaigns to support organisational attendance and retention targets. Front of House and Box Office Sales: Lead on front of house best practice, working with the Front of House and Box Office Managers, ensuring a high standard of customer experience for audience members visiting our venues Shared responsibility for Health & Safety across venues, with particular involvement in audience evacuation / invacuaction processes, ensuring that all hazards are identified and managed to an acceptable level and that all relevant documentation is completed. In particular ensuring that the FOH team are fully briefed on any operational implications. Involvement in access review and improvements across both sites, delivering assisted performances and promoting access for all Ensure FOH displays are regularly updated and to a high standard, working with the Front of House Manager Monitoring and responding to audience feedback and complaints Reporting and Evaluation Work with the Box Office Manager on statistical analysis of database, website and sales figures to evaluate and improve marketing and customer experience activities Assess and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns against objectives, implementing contingencies where necessary and make recommendations for any improvement. Set clear return on investment targets and report against this, whilst making articulate and compelling business cases for additional investment in key areas as appropriate. Provide regular performance update reports for the senior management team and LAT board. Lead on the appropriate use of audience data and segmentation from Spektrix and other marketing software, in particular in preparation for the implementation of GDPR.
Financial Work with the ED to set the organisation s annual marketing and front of house budgets and take responsibility for managing the budget throughout the year, liaising with the ED and Finance Officer whenever required. Be accountable for implementing the agreed business and financial objectives for all Marketing, Front of House and Box Office activities Comply with the Company's financial, management and monetary procedures Administration Leading on streamlining internal communications, facilitating efficient organisational operation Attendance at all senior management team and staff meetings To represent the company as and when required at performances, workshops, and other networking events Other Adhere to Little Angel Theatre s policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding, Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility Any other duties or projects as required by the Executive Director
PERSON SPECIFICATION The appropriate candidate will possess the following traits and skills: Essential Experience of working in a theatre or arts environment Experience of working in a marketing environment (minimum 3 years) Experience of working in a customer facing role with a focus on operations Strong knowledge of online marketing methods and growth areas Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Strong organisational skills, problem solving skills and proactive attitude The ability to think imaginatively to solve problems on small budgets The ability to write copy and absolute attention to detail The ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritise accordingly The ability to lead on projects The ability to work independently or as part of a team Have an understanding or previous experience of using Wordpress or other website management sytems Have an understanding or previous experience of using Spektrix or other computerised box office systems A good level of computer literacy, specifically knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel essential) Desirable Proven experience of working in a senior position in a theatre or arts environment Understanding of theatre and theatre infrastructure Understanding of the puppetry sector and appreciation of theatre for families and young audiences Design skills (Photoshop, Indesign or similar) Basic video editing skills
