Nursery Team Leader Plant Deliveries & Production Position Details Position title Team Leader Division Plant Position summary This position is a 6 month full-time fixed-term contract (expected start date November 2017) The Team Leader-Nursery Plant Deliveries & Production, in conjunction with Team Leader-Nursery, has responsibility for the leadership and development of supported employees and the achievement of production goals. Plants supplies plant stock to local councils, landscapers, builders/developers across the northern Melbourne region as well as Geelong. Position responsibilities Area of Responsibility 1 Production, Order Assembly & Dispatch Production Tasks Key Performance Indicators 1.1 Achievement of production goals at the required level of quality Organise assembly and dispatch of customer orders Interprets orders to organise and set up jobs; Organises appropriate equipment and machinery to run production; Follows safety policies and procedures and maintains safety standards; Monitors production processes and where necessary modifies to improve efficiency; Monitors and maintains quality standards; Trouble shoots and problem solves routine day to day operational matters; Liaises with the Nursery Manager, to ensure a smooth flow of information and product to achieve production goals; Provide customer service and sales; Balance daily cash sales (if required) Maintain an aesthetically pleasing working area; Ensure customer delivery documents are accurate.
1.2 Supervision of a work team Ensures work team provides work that meets quality standards; Provides encouragement and guidance to work team; Delivers on the job training and support to the work team; Maintains the attendance role; Organises and completes employee timesheets. Area of Responsibility 2 Employee Support Employee Support Tasks 2.1 Provides support for employees in the workplace 2.2 Contributes to maintaining quality accreditation Key Performance Indicators Develops, implements, monitors and reviews strategies in collaboration with employees to help them identify and meet their employment and training goals; in collaboration with Employment coordinators. Administers first aid assistance when required (or direct to a qualified First Aider, in particular, assistance with epileptic seizures, minor cuts and injuries; Supports employees as requested by employees in a range of day to day activities such as making phone calls, completing forms and using the photocopier; Proactively identifies and addresses barriers to meeting individual employee needs within the workplace; Advocates on behalf of employees on request; Actively upholds, supports and promotes the right of employees in the workplace; Liaises with Employee Support to help employees access social, employment and professional services and advice. Upholds the requirements of the Disability Service Standards and the Disability Act; Participates in internal and external audits; Participates in professional development activities;
Participates in meetings and continuous improvement activities as required. Area of Responsibility 3 Administration Administrative Tasks 3.1 Contributing to quality processes Key Performance Indicators To work within Brite Services Quality Assurance system, contractual arrangements and legal requirements; To be fully aware of and comply with current responsibilities and requirements of the quality system, regulations and organisational policies, quality procedures and working instructions applicable to their activities; To contribute to continuous improvement through completion of Continuous Improvement Reports. 3.2 Contributing to Occupational Health and Safety processes To be fully aware of and comply with current responsibilities and requirements of the OHS Act 2004, regulations and organisational policies, quality procedures and working instructions applicable to their activities; To report all hazards, incidents and injuries in accordance with legislation, and Brite Services VVRA reporting procedures; Ensure liaison with employee health and safety representatives and supervisors and staff in regard to OHS issues; Wear and use protective safety equipment when identified as appropriate; Participate in programs and assessments to improve health and safety in the workplace. 3.3 Recording of Stock movement and financial transactions Use MYOB/other software packages to invoice customers, enter nursery purchases and manage plant stock adjustments and inventory.
Authority The Nursery Manager delegates appropriate and adequate authority to the Team Leader Plant Deliveries and Production to: Plant order assembly/delivery to customers Lead a work team Set up and supervise production and meet production goals The Team Leader-Nursery will make decisions only within the limits endorsed by the Nursery Manager. Knowledge, skills and experience Key Selection Criteria Comprehensive experience, skills and knowledge in horticulture in a wide variety of areas, that are brought together through a Team approach to production. Demonstrated ability to facilitate through group processes and the involvement of individuals in the attainment of business, employment and training objectives and outcomes. Ability to work with the Manager, Employee Support and/or Manager, Training to implement, maintain and operate a variety of elements of the Australian Vocational Training System. Be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience within the Nursery Industry and its products, processes and procedures. Ability to adhere to tight timeframes, the maintenance of quality assurance standards and needing to meet the customer s requirements and exceed their expectations. Ability to communicate and work with other Team Leaders, Nursery Manager and the Chief Executive Officer to practically implement and attain strategic corporate objectives and outcomes and the strategic objectives and outcomes of Brite Services. Sound knowledge and practical application of occupational health & safety standards and processes that will ensure a safe working environment for all team members, employees at Brite Services. Extensive and demonstrable experience in the operation and maintenance of Nursery requirements related to relevant industrial specifications and occupational health & safety standards and legislation. Qualifications and Experience Relevant Horticultural experience (evidence of) or qualifications (preferred) Certificate IV in Community Services (Disability Work) or similar relevant qualification (preferred) Current Manual Drivers Licence (required to drive nursery delivery truck).
