BYUSA Communications Area Vice President The Communications area strives to fulfill the following mission and accomplish the associated objectives: Mission As a part of the BYU Student Service Association, the Communications area exists to strategize, plan, and implement meaningful branding for the organization. It should enhance volunteer-led programs using creative promotion through all media platforms. Objectives - Divine Centered Leadership: Teach and mentor fellow students in principles of divine centered leadership. Employ principles of divine centered leadership through team development and program creation. - Provide promotional resources: Through research of the best practices within the marketing, social media, and advertising fields to find the best software for analytical data and user-friendly platforms to promote volunteer-led programs in the organization. - Become more relatable to the student body: Conduct focus groups and surveys to obtain feedback from the student body about the best ways to appeal to their needs and interests. - Raise more awareness: Build relationships with University Communications and other groups that are responsible for advertising locations on campus. Collaborate with other student organizations across campus to reach a broader audience. The Structure of the Communications Area is as follows: Vice President of Communications - Serve as a member of the 9-member BYUSA Presidency. - Select, supervise, and coordinate the work of 3 executive directors. - Support and mentor volunteers, paving the way for leadership development and a Zion-like community. - Create, maintain, and reconcile the area budget. - Focus volunteer efforts and programs on the BYUSA vision and mission. - Provide the area with vision, goals, and training. - Ensure adherence to campus policy and procedure. - Coordinate and maintain communication with cooperating other campus entities. - Keep leaders and volunteers informed of current events, industry trends, and how they relate to the work in the area. - Plan and coordinate area retreats for Fall and Winter semesters. - Hold weekly stewardships with Executive Directors. - Conduct area meetings. - Serve and average of 10-15 hours a week. Executive Directors (3) - Executive Director 1: Responsible for managing social media, public relations, and brand research. - Executive Director 2: Responsible for managing Video, photography, the blog, and the historical record. - Executive Director 3: Responsible for managing 5-6 campaigns.
- Train and assist volunteers in the execution of their programs and projects. - Facilitate leadership and personal development in program directors and volunteers under their stewardship. - Provide area programs with goals and vision that are centered around the BYUSA vision and mission. - Attend and help plan the Fall and Winter area retreats. - Serve an average of 10 hours a week. - Hold weekly meetings with all their program directors. - Conduct weekly stewardships with their program directors. Program Directors (10-12) - Train and assist volunteers within their program. - Facilitate leadership and personal development in volunteers in their program. - Conduct regular stewardships with each volunteer in their program. - Serve an average of 5 hours a week. - Hold weekly meetings with their program volunteers.
