DEN's Airport Security Section resides within the broader Operations Division and is under the responsibility of the Director of Airport Security. Airport Security is comprised of approximately 40 personnel across two main business units; Compliance & Enforcement and Badging & Permitting. This position leads reports to the Assistant Director of Airport Security for Badging & Permitting. ABOUT OUR JOB Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking a Senior Manager of Security, Badging & Permitting to become a key member of the leadership team in the Airport Security Section. This position also includes management and oversight of DEN's two (2) Badging Offices. You will be responsible for collaborating with our Technologies team in various projects, including the Identity Management System, Physical Access Control
System, and other technology projects that impact the Badging & Permitting unit. This position also includes alternate Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) duties and responsibilities, and management and development of additional assigned contracts, projects and programs. As a leader in the Security Section and Operations Division, you will be responsible for mentoring staff, adhering to Division Goals and performing all necessary administrative functions and requirements. Job Duties: Manages DEN's two (2) badging offices and personnel responsible for providing exceptional customer service and collecting all regulatory required information (i.e. Criminal History Record Checks, Security Threat Assessment, Citizenship, etc.) necessary for the annual issuance of Airport ID badges. Serves as the technical expert in access media and associated credentialing for DEN's badging population. Administers the Identity Management System for all fingerprinting and badging processes while ensuring TSA regulatory compliance as outlined in the Airport Security Program. Protects Sensitive Security Information (SSI) and Personal Identifiable Information (PII) protocols for the unit. Responsible for overseeing special projects assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Security, including various biometrics programs, digital queue management software, computer based training and testing, and Airport ID badge design. Manages all performance metrics for badging, including continuous improvement strategies to reduce badge processing time for annual transactions. Prepares regular reports of key performance indicators (KPI) of the Badging & Permitting unit. Administers policy analysis and provides improvement recommendations regarding the handling of annual badging office phone calls, including the implementation of new call technology Develops the strategic vision and policies for onboarding multiple companies and employees at DEN, including associated access control considerations. Partners with stakeholders to survey the economic conditions that affect onboarding employees. Serves as a security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to other City departments/airport stakeholders, develops and delivers training programs / presentations, develops Operating Instructions (OI), Concept of Security Operations (CSO), and other procedural documentation to support Airport Security's mission. Manages the development and implementation of communication strategies to inform the airport community of security changes/enhancement/requirements. Supervises direct reports and provides leadership guidance and support to the entire section. Participates in creating operating policies and procedures, and provides advice and interprets information related to the policies and procedures. Evaluates proposed changes, makes recommendations, implements, and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices. Establishes processes and controls to ensure compliance and effectiveness. Assists in mapping the strategic direction of the Badging & Permitting unit and interprets the goals and objectives into operational measures. Administers the financial operations of the Badging Offices, develops annual operating budget, and prepares the appropriate financial reports. Serves as one of the Airport's alternate Airport Security Coordinators (ASC) ensuring compliance with 49 CFR Part 1542 and DEN's Airport Security Program (ASP). May perform general and command staff positions as part of the Incident Command System (ICS) during airport emergencies at DEN. Fulfills certain roles as defined in the Airport Operations Division's Snow Program. Resolves operational and management issues, makes decisions that include multiple perspectives and solves underlying problems. Contributes to the development and implementation of section work plans based on the annual and strategic plans. Coaches, mentors, and challenges staff. Champions continuous improvement, including devising new strategies and new opportunities. Sets performance standards for the division, and ensures operations achieve or exceed performance metrics.

ABOUT YOU Our ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience: Exhibits strong leadership traits promoting collaboration in a team-oriented atmosphere, and shows an aptitude for strategic thinking beyond the section level. Demonstrated ability managing and mentoring employees in a regulated environment. Strong interest and familiarity with aviation security regulations Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Certification in Security designated by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) or attain within six (6) months of hire. Experience implementing Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Directives (SD), Information Circulars (IC), and/or other federally mandated regulations. Prepared to act as an Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) or alternate Airport Security Coordinator within six (6) months of hire. Experience working in an environment that is heavily regulated by local, state, and federal requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to create and deliver presentations (i.e. PowerPoint).
