Job Description Post Location Department Reporting To Responsible for Marketing & Content Manager Edinburgh Marketing and Communications Head of Marketing and Communications PR & Content Officer, Print Production Officer, Graphic Designer Job Summary This role sits within the Myeloma UK Marketing and Communications Team. The primary purpose of this role is to drive forward the development and delivery of content, PR and Brand management at Myeloma UK. As a member of the Marketing and Communications department, the Marketing and Content Manager will contribute towards the planning and delivery of the business s strategic, operational, and departmental plans. Key Responsibilities Content & Brand: Own the brand including guidelines and standards acting as authority on brand and content. Roll out development programme to ensure compliance and engagement with the brand both internally and externally Develop an engaging and effective content strategy that will support the Myeloma UK business strategy and support audience growth Line manage the team to support the implementation and development of the brand, content and PR. To include the delivery of accurate corporate, fundraising, research, medical and scientific content for marketing and communications collateral including promotional materials, presentations, web articles, reports, abstracts and scripts Work closely with the Head of Marketing and Communications and the Executive Leadership Team to ensure effective delivery of the business strategy Public Relations: Develop and deliver a PR strategy to support the Myeloma UK business strategy Manage delivery of the PR support function including point of contact service for media enquiries/responses, and delivery of PR campaigns Manage the delivery of an effective reactive and proactive media support function which includes point of contact for media enquiries Build and maintain relationships with key trade and consumer journalists to support the PR strategy 1
Work with the Head of Communications & Marketing to ensure that organisational risk is mitigated with regards to media relations and crisis management Celebrity Ambassadors, fundraising partnership and sponsorship: Work with the Head of Communications & Marketing to deliver a celebrity engagement plan that supports organisational strategy Work with the Income Generation Team to effectively manage relationships with existing and potential fundraising partners and sponsors to ensure return on investment Additional duties: Develop and manage relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders Out of hours and relief cover for Content and PR Team including sickness and holidays General: Contribute to the development of continuous improvement, developing new skills, adhering to organisational quality standards and team work, so as to strengthen all roles at Myeloma UK Adopt the Myeloma UK principles of quality management and support the use of the Quality System within the organisation Be attentive to and implement all organisational quality standards and policies including style and brand guidelines Participate in team meetings and work together with colleagues to maintain and improve knowledge and skills Act as a source of information and support to colleagues throughout the organisation Build productive working relationships with external advisers to maintain and enhance their commitment to Myeloma UK Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and development and participate in any training relevant to the role This role is UK wide and will require essential travel throughout the UK, therefore the post holder must be willing to travel Undertake such work as may be appropriate to the post This job description is not exhaustive. Person Specification Area Essential Desirable Qualifications Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience Postgraduate qualification in marketing or communications Experience Excellent work experience in a communications/marketing position Excellent track record of working with journalists and other stakeholders Demonstrable experience of managing media including generating positive publicity, profile raising and crisis management Digital and social media communication experience Broad and diverse range of project management Experience of delivering projects/activities within tight deadlines Clear evidence of successful relationship building Budget management and reporting experience Knowledge Thorough and detailed understanding of the principles and practice of marketing and communications Excellent understanding of working with media across the UK, at a national and regional level, to maximise opportunities and of developing multi-faceted effective media strategies Knowledge and experience of effective communication and relationship building Expertise of working in communications for health/medical related organisation Expertise of working in charitable sector Rare cancer awareness and knowledge 3

Terms and Conditions Post Marketing and Content Manager (permanent, full-time) Salary 35,000-40,000 Probation period Six months The standard working week comprises 35 hours, Monday to Friday. Myeloma UK operates a flexitime scheme and details will be provided by the HR and Operations Manager. Hours of work The post holder will be expected to assume duties outside working hours to support the delivery of their role and the operation of the organisation when required. Holidays Holiday entitlement is 28 days per calendar year, plus 6 public holidays. Pension scheme Premises Myeloma UK will comply with its auto-enrolment obligations and details of its designated scheme can be obtained from the HR and Operations Manager.
