CBM UK was founded in 1996 in order to build a support base in the UK and to raise funds and profile for the federation s work around the world. BasicNeeds BasicNeeds is the world s largest international mental health organisation, reaching out across 14 countries in Africa and Asia. We deliver services via partner organisations who implement the renowned and innovative BasicNeeds Model for Mental Health in Development. The model is a holistic way of delivering high impact mental health services in low resource settings. In 2017 BasicNeeds was welcomed into the CBM family enabling us to scale up services, reach even more people and move mental health from the fringes of development into the mainstream.

Oakington, near Cambridge (potential move to central Cambridge location in 2018). Integration Director (BasicNeeds) This post-holder will be employed by CBM UK but will be seconded to BasicNeeds None although may involve management of volunteers To support the work of the BasicNeeds team, with specific responsibility for programmatic activity within Africa. In conjunction with the Director and with support from colleagues, to assume project management responsibility in the designated countries and regions, including the development, planning and management of statutory grants. Key criteria for success Within 6 months, the Senior Programme Officer will: Be working to clear and agreed strategic objectives and plans Have a good understanding of the current project portfolio for Africa Be supporting and managing programmes, and have built up strong relationships with partners Be supporting the development of programme management systems Have an increased understanding of mental health issues. Key responsibilities The Senior Programme Officer is a key role, ensuring support and management of the delivery of quality programmes for BasicNeeds. 1. Programme Management and Development (70%) a. With support from colleagues, manage programmes funded by BasicNeeds and by various donors in line with BasicNeeds structures and ways of working b. Develop and maintain excellent working relations with staff and partners c. Work with partners to develop innovative new funding applications, approaches and programmes e. Contribute towards meeting best practice in programme development in BasicNeeds
f. Provide support for the organisational assessment and strengthening of partners in order to achieve greater impact h. Develop and maintain institutional understanding of the policy and legislative environments in country that relate to the mental health sector i. Carry out country and programme visits when required (up to 8 weeks a year) j. Support partners to develop and report on monitoring, evaluation, impact and financial frameworks k. Integrate organisational learning into future work l. Contribute to BasicNeeds strategy development, implementation and review. 2. Statutory and institutional fundraising and relationship management (20%) a. Work as part of a team to develop high quality and successful funding applications to statutory and institutional donors in line with CBM regional and country strategies c. Ensure BasicNeeds meets all contractual requirements of institutional/statutory donors in the countries assigned d. Work with partners to ensure high quality and timely narrative and financial reports are submitted to a range of donors in line with their requirements. 3. Additional tasks (10%) a. Liaise with colleagues to provide programmatic information and input when required b. Ensure partners collect high quality stories of change and case studies to feed into programme and fundraising work c. Contribute to BasicNeeds hosted events such as meetings, residential training courses and international workshops d. Represent and speak to external audiences on behalf of BasicNeeds including media, policy and decision makers and national government when required e. Participate in relevant UK and international networks f. Build and maintain relationships with relevant staff from NGO, research and academic institutions g. Self-study and attend relevant training to increase capacity in programme management knowledge and skills h. Carry out other duties as required by the Integration Director (BasicNeeds).
