Job title: Cinema Programme Assistant Reports to: Cinema Programme Manager Role: Full-time - 5 days weekly 1. Purpose of the Job: The Cinema Programme Assistant supports the Cinema Programme Manager in a broad range of activities that deliver the running and development of Phoenix s cinema programme. The Assistant will also work with other managers as required to support the education and Access programme, MyPhoenix membership scheme, and community-based cinema programme. Phoenix has made great progress in developing its cinema and related education programme by growing attendances and ticket income and by achieving high levels of customer loyalty and satisfaction. Phoenix is an independent cinema and charity that aims to enrich lives and celebrate diversity and ambition in film and art. Our curatorial policy aims to provide a 'window on the world' by offering diverse cultural perspectives. We aim to produce a programme that is locally and culturally relevant working with a range of partner organisations. Phoenix provides a year-round opportunity to experience this world of film with over 350 films and 2,500 screenings for audiences of 105,000, alongside a varied education and access programme for young people and adults. Our community cinema network attracts annual audiences of over 14,000 to 60 venues, across three counties, engaging communities with limited access to cultural film. Phoenix is supported by the British Film Institute and aims to increase Leicester s diversity of film offer, audience engagement and to support wider development of the independent cinema sector. Reporting to the Cinema Programme Manager, this new role is expected to support a stepchange in our development by taking responsibility for essential tasks that are required to deliver and enrich the Phoenix cinema programme. 2. Main Duties Assist the Cinema Programme Manager with the creation and booking of a high quality cinema programme that is international in outlook, relevant to Leicester, and financially viable. Maintaining an understanding of the curatorial policy and overall Phoenix cultural programme. Maintaining an understanding of Phoenix marketing and audience development priorities. Implementing the cinema programme as planned with management and operations colleagues, using Phoenix s systems, procedures and working with ICO and other film distributors as directed. Supporting the Cinema Programme Manager to devise and schedule the cinema programme. Entering scheduled programme and promotional information into the box office, website content management system and programme diary. Resolving content, data and scheduling issues in these systems. Supporting the procurement of cinema content from distributors and the Independent Cinema Office under the guidance of the Cinema Programme Manager. Communicating effectively with the Marketing team to ensure high quality promotion of the cinema programme though timely brochure, website and digital marketing. Communicating with and supporting the Operations and Technical teams to ensure the cinema programme is delivered to our customer service standards. Using Phoenix s cinema and sales systems to deliver the programme. Ensure automated daily, weekly and quarterly sales reports are sent correctly. Complete weekly film reports on Friday and send to distributors after approval. Respond to distributor enquiries for Box Office returns. Support the preparation of occasional reports to funders and stakeholders by accessing, collating and presenting cinema programme information in the required formats. Supporting events organisation such as film festivals, film introductions, education courses and MyPhoenix events. Working with identified programme and audience development partners, including the wider Phoenix staff, to share and develop programme ideas and content. Being a point of contact for partners in delivering the cinema and access programme. Deputising for the Cinema Programme Manager when required from time to time. Supporting the accurate and secure administration of customer records, surveys and feedback.

REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE Qualifications & Training Degree qualification in film studies or similar subject; or equivalent working knowledge of film as a cultural activity. Other training in film or cultural programming. Training in box office, content management and other relevant systems. Experience & Achievement Support role experience in delivering a cultural/cinema programme; or relevant experience in a support role delivering to the public. Experience in team-work. Experience in analysing and managing data and preparing reports. Achievement in audience development in cultural sector. Experience in developing and organising film festivals and events with promoters and community organisations. Experience of WordPress. Organising high quality events. Working in a busy cultural venue. Experience of working with partner organisations. Using social media and digital marketing to engage audiences. Direct experience of using relevant programming and sales systems including box office, content management, report generators etc. Specific Skills & Knowledge Knowledge of the independent cinema sector. Competent in using MS Office and relevant applications. Ability to write clearly, correctly and effectively in English. Ability to work with attention to detail - managing information carefully, accurately and securely. Ability to be analytical, working with data in a structured way Experience and achievement in a film programming role. An ability to understand and interpret film selection in relation to brand values, reputation and ethos. Knowledge and personal connections to relevant communities in Leicester.
