3 What We Do We have 4 audience areas: children, communities, young and older people. Each year we work with over 6500 people, actively engaging in creative activity through projects, events and exhibitions. We have over 30 staff and 100 freelance artists working on services across Central Scotland with our Head Office in Glasgow. Our leadership team has, on average, 11 years with the organisation. We work with multiple partners and funders all with a strong ethos #artchangeslives. We are supported by Inspiring Scotland, Cashback for Communities, Skills Development Scotland, Big Lottery, Corra Foundation PDI, Scottish Government People and Communities & Aspiring Communities, foundations and trusts and individual commissions. Our Impact What we ve helped people achieve in 2017/18: Our qualified staff and artists have worked with 550 children in arts and creativity We ve supported nearly 300 older people to unleash their creativity Over 600 people reported improved physical and mental health as a result of engaging in our programmes Over 400 young people engaged in skills development and employability programmes In 2017 we were a finalist for SURF Awards Youth Employability category. In 2015 we were announced as Training Provider of the Year at the Creative & Cultural Skills Awards. We were nominated in 2015 by the Herald Society Awards (the Young Gallery) and SURF Awards (Creative Pathways). 4 Background to the Role The role of Children & Young People Programme Manager is a new position within Impact Arts, reflecting recent restructuring and the fact that Impact Arts Programme Manager Rob Gallagher will be moving on to take up an exciting new role as CEO at The Edinburgh Remakery in February. The role is a key one within Impact Arts structure and reflects the significant focus that we put on our work with young people and our growing portfolio of work for children. With responsibility for programmes such as Cashback to the Future, our Creative Pathways portfolio, The Young Gallery and children s art therapy programmes, the Children & Young People Programme Manager role is wide ranging, large in its scope and covers a number of key policy areas. As such, we are looking for someone who is dynamic, who will bring considerable experience, energy and passion to the role and who shares the values and ethos of Impact Arts, what makes us so successful at engaging some of the hardest to reach young people and successfully supporting them to progress positively in their lives. You do not have to have creative training to be eligible to apply for this job however you need to be passionate, like the rest of the Impact Arts team, about the power of creativity to transform lives and feel excited at what can be achieved each year by bringing over 100 of the most talented creatives together with the people we engage. Contribution to Impact Arts To manage a portfolio of projects which support children and young people to transform their lives through creativity and the arts To manage the delivery of Impact Arts programme of work with Children & Young People, including managing a team of core and sessional staff, budgetary control, performance, achievement of targets, marketing and promotion, developing and maintaining key relationships and ensuring monitoring reports completed on time To keep abreast of key policy issues including employability, health & education and develop strategic partnerships to develop these areas of work To work alongside the Compliance Advisor to be responsible for health and safety, risk assessment, equipment and premises for your area of operation
5 Main Responsibilities To develop, organise and manage Impact Arts Children s and Young People s projects and programmes on time and on budget effectively managing risks To recruit and manage the delivery team of staff, freelance assistants and tutors and volunteers, including performance reviews and day-to-day HR To design, develop and market new projects in conjunction with the Director, Business Development team, Head of Delivery and strategic partners To monitor performance, achievement and evaluation of target outcomes and budget spend for your projects in line with a wide range of funder and partner requirements To manage the delivery and development of Impact Arts accreditation offer including SQA, Arts Awards and Youth Achievement Awards To keep abreast of current policy relevant to Children & Young People including employability, education, health, play etc. and to disseminate this amongst the Impact Arts team To establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including funders, referrers, schools, partners, local authorities and employers To establish and manage Impact Arts Youth Steering Group ensuring young people are supported and consulted with wisely To work alongside the Compliance Advisor to be responsible for the buildings and equipment within your workplace including health and safety, risk assessment and security and the data protection for your projects To provide relief cover for programmes, events and training To represent Impact Arts at events To participate in training, meetings and events as required To support and promote Impact Arts Values To carry out any other duties appropriate to the post in line with Impact Arts needs
6 Qualifications and Experience Essential: SCQF level 9 in Community Learning and Development, Youth Work, Community Arts or a related subject 2 years experience in project management Experience in delivering employability or education contracts Experience in managing a staff team 3 years experience delivering or overseeing delivery of projects for young people and children in diverse community settings Desirable: Member of CLD Standards Council for Scotland Experience of managing/ assessing SQA accreditation Technical Skills and Knowledge Full driving licence (preferable) Competent IT skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Knowledge of the community/ education/ employability/ community arts sector Personal Skills and Qualities Excellent interpersonal skills Approachable and empathetic manner Proven strong communication skills Passionate about creating opportunities for young people Ability to lead and manage a team effectively, motivating others
