About Kinross Wolaroi School Kinross Wolaroi School is a co-educational Independent School of the Uniting Church. The School has a strong history of excellent academic results along with a diverse co-curricular program. Kinross Wolaroi School is a non-selective school with over 1100 students (including 330 boarders in Years 7 to 12), located in the NSW central tablelands in the city of Orange. The School has a proud tradition of educating young people in an environment where ideals are based solidly on friendship, spirituality, the security of family values, hard work and the pursuit of excellence to the very best of one s ability. The School offers the unique opportunity for co-educational learning with separate boarding sites for boys and girls. Students are provided with a holistic education with a varied curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our students. The School has two main campuses. The main campus, called Wolaroi, is a picturesque campus of 20 hectares and accommodates the main teaching facilities as well as the boarding facilities for boys boarding. A second campus, called PLC, is located approximately five kilometres west of the main campus (on the opposite side of the city of Orange) and houses the girls boarding facilities, a number of staff residences, a recreation and examination centre, an outdoor swimming pool and playing fields. About the Position The role of the Finance Department The Finance Department is headed by the Accountant who is tasked with providing professional oversight and leadership to the department. The finance team performs various accounting and finance functions to ensure the School s financial and materiel resources are effectively managed, reconciled and accounted for in accordance with the agreed business objectives and policies in a manner that fulfils the requirements of the relevant Acts, Regulations and Standards and organisational requirements that govern the School s operations. This position The Graduate Accountant position has been structured to accommodate and assist the development of the incumbent s skills as a graduate accountant. The incumbent can expect to be provided with opportunities to develop their professional skills across the full range of finance and accounting functions within the School and to be supported in obtaining admission as a Certified Practicing Accountant or Chartered Accountant. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Accountant is to administer the payroll and associated functions for the School. In this capacity, the Assistant Accountant is responsible for the administration, processing and reconciliation of the School s payroll, superannuation, workers compensation, salary packaging and associated ancillary payments for approximately 350 employees on a fortnightly basis. Training and supervision will be provided to develop the required competency in payroll administration. Duties related to the position include, but are not limited to the following: Assistant Accountant - Candidate Information Pack Key Word Payroll Processing Duties Process and input all payroll data into the School s accounting system Calculate and input variations in allowances and deductions as required Prepare PAYG and other tax payments for remittance to the ATO Prepare the payroll for EFT approval Manage salary sacrifice arrangements ensuring the accuracy of the payments to third parties on behalf of staff and compliance with the School policy and relevant legislative requirements Ensure all superannuation liabilities are paid by the due date Make payments for approved payroll deductions Complete ad-hoc calculations as required including termination, redundancy, long service, parental and leave loading Process payments outside of the general employment terms and conditions as directed by the Business Manager Budgeting Reporting Accounting Assist the Accountant in the provision of payroll related information to enable budget variance reporting to be undertaken Assist the Accountant perform the various financial accounting procedures associated with formulation of financial statements (Annual Return) reporting (Council and regular cash flow), statutory reports (FBT, GST, DEST etc), and provide assistance with the global reconciliation process and other related accounting tasks in order to accurately account for all transactions carried out When directed, prepare and input journals associated with the month-end process. Ensure all transactions relating to the accounting period are accurately entered in a timely fashion. Ensure the various accounting systems in use (payroll, general accounting and point of sale) are kept up to date and comparable Process more complicated accounting transactions Manage the entry of accruals and prepayments Audit Where directed, assist the School s Auditor regarding the financial audit

However, for practical purposes these responsibilities are delegated to the Business Manager. For day-to-day operational matters the role will be responsive to the directions of the Accountant who will act as the incumbent s supervisor. Appointment Conditions Employment will be offered on a permanent ongoing basis, subject to a period of probation, defined as six months in accordance with the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth). The normal working hours are 8.30AM to 4.36PM Monday to Friday. The terms of employment are governed by the Independent Schools NSW (Support and Operational Staff) Multi- Enterprise Agreement 2017 (MEA) as it applies from time to time, or any industrial instrument that replaces the MEA. The position is classified at the Administrator Level 3.3 rate of the MEA. In 2018 the annual salary is $71,835. Comprehensive terms and conditions of appointment will be the subject of a separate employment agreement.
